Definitely agree on Reservoir Dogs but I thought Unforgiven and No Country were great. NBK was okay but I don't seem to hear enough about it anymore to call it overrated. Haven't seen the other two.
I think Inglorious Basterds and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button were overrated.
I really liked Inglorious Basterds, but thought Benjamin Button was borderline terrible.
Whoever the poster was who said that they go "back-and-forth" on whether Pulp Fiction is overrated should be given merciless public lashings. Pulp Fiction is the Michael Jordan of movies. Any and all arguments that even tend to suggest something other than its absolute greatness shall be summarily dismissed.
I'm on board with several other posters re: Reservoir Dogs. I wasn't blown away.
I thought Goodfellas was overrated, but that's almost certainly because I read the book (Wiseguys by Nicholas Pilleggi (sp?)) before I saw the movie. The Lufthansa heist was half of the book. It was condensed to about 30 seconds in the movie. I realize this is the nature of the game, but it still affects my opinion of the flick.
Another overrated mafia movie is Donnie Brasco. Actually, maybe that isn't overrated. We'll just call it weak.
To all the people yelling "avatar": STOP! A movie can't be considered overrated when a good 75% of the population thinks that it was only good for its graphics. I would apply the same rationale to Titanic. It may have won some awards, but anybody who isn't abjectly dumb -- and I try not to associate with people who are in fact abjectly dumb -- will tell you that Titanic is an absolute festering pile of poo. Slightly off topic, but Titanic is also about the best example (that's coming to mind) of a film that needed a way hotter leading lady. Kate Winslet? Seriously, James Cameron? You thought I was that concerned with seeing Kate Winslet's breasts. No sir, I wasn't.
Another example is Tombstone. I forget the name of the female lead...but she needed to be hotter. She actually needed to be way way hotter. I never found the "enchanted moment" scene to be particularly believable...and that's a shame.
