1. A wire to wire breeze on the road is always good. It was sloppy at times, but overall a good effort.
2. That's probably Brian Williams' best game as a UT player. He was the best inside player on the floor.
3. Cam Tatum looked better than he has in over a year. His legs are finally under him.
4. Wayne Chism flat took the night off. Good to see his teammates, who he carried for over two months now, pick up the slack.
5. Scottie Hopson handled the crowd and made some important shots. The 3s he made when State got it to 11 early in the second half killed MSU's momentum.
6. The matchup with Mississippi in the second round of the SEC Tournament, barring a disaster against LSU, will be intriguing. The Rebs will, like State tonight, be playing for their tournament lives.
7. Rick Stansbury should be ashamed of his team's effort tonight. For an experienced team to play like that in a must win game at home is inexplicable.
8. The talk about the Atlantic 10 getting 6 bids certainly died quickly. Their only chance at four is if someone outside the Temple/Richmond/Xavier troika wins in Atlantic City.
9. Every bubble team will be rooting for Northern Iowa tomorrow. A win by Wichita State reduces the number of available at large bids by one.
10. Congratulations to ETSU. They lost a lot of firepower off last year's team and are back in the NCAA Tournament.

Great post as usual, good to see you put something in at the end for ETSU as well.

WTF was that dance ETSU just did? It looked like dancing Asian guy from Hot Rod lol.

Vols finally have some depth. We can have one of the main guys have an off night and still be OK.

2.

The games vs UTM and WKU come to mind, lower quality teams though.

What was the most impressive part of the win? I thought MS would be scrapping but from the looks of it, UT just clobbered them.

Wayne probably needed the 'rest' that he had tonight..but I would have liked to see him battle Varnado more.

I feel worst case scenario is a 5 seed and that is only if we lose to LSU. We win that one and 4 seed coming our way. then just hope we arent sent out west.

I like the way they rebounded today. That's how you win in March.

That is what I was happy to see. Chism gave everything he had when the team was down, struggling, and trying to find their identities. All in all, he didn't need to dominate the post to win the game but I'm glad that he could take the night off and the team would respond for him

I'm also glad Pearl took time away from his duties on the grill at Mel's Diner to slap on a jacket and coach tonight.

This seems to be one of the stronger entrances for UT going into the SEC tourney in recent memory

It looks like we are getting hot at just the right time. I can see Tenn doing some damage in the tourneys if they stay focused.

Interesting......Bob Knight just called us the most dangerous team in the tourney.

There were only two facets of the game tonight that deserve criticism after looking at the stats. We shot an abysmal 19% on 3s and had 15 TOs to State's 14. Otherwise we shot 50% FG, 75% FTs (wow!), outrebounded State 41-30 and had 10 steals to State's 4; a solid, if a little sloppy, effort. I'd rate it a solid 8.5 to 9...
