1. Senior Day is one of the great traditions in college basketball. Phil Martelli started a senior today that had played roughly 15 minutes all year and he proceeded to score 5 points on the Hawks' first two possessions.
2. If Ahmad Nivins had played with Jameer Nelson and Delonte West, Saint Joseph's would have a national championship. He's going to be a solid pro.
3. Great win for Tennessee. All the people who were unnecessarily concerned about the Vols making the NCAA Tournament can stop hyperventalating now.
4. Billy Donovan had a national championship team gutted by early departures and graduation. His team has now sucked for two years.
5. Bill Self had a national championship team gutted by early departures and graduation. His team has now taken control of the Big Twelve race and is in line for a high seed in the NCAAs.
6. The flight crew on my trip home tonight may have been the least competent group of people on the planet. I realize MENSA membership is not required for a job with Southwest Airlines, but at least a functional IQ would be nice.
7. Syracuse seemed to right the ship a bit today. We'll see if it's another mirage from that bunch.
8. Marquette, given the loss of Dominic James, put up a great fight today. I still think their best basketball is behind them this year.
9. UCONN has done something amazing that has been overlooked this year. They are undefeated on the road in the Big East.
10. Louisville is still missing a gear. They have to get more offense if the want to reach Detroit.

Interesting note on Louisville. I thought they would have an easier time with Marquette. It seemed that they could lock Marquette down for long periods but could not score enough to pull away. Sounds like you think this could hurt them down the stretch.

Wow, did not know that. Unbelievably impressive considering how tough it is in that conference away from home. That won't go unnoticed by the selection committee.

Bill Self is my favorite coach in all of the NCAA. Loved him since he was at Tulsa and beat the snot out of us in Puerto Rico (I think that's where it was played). Wish we had him.

So far the storm is a media pumped up fraud in the west DC suburbs. Maybe I'll wake up to something meaningful. Supposedly it'll be rougher by you.

Self is a hell of a coach. Calipari is my favorite, but Self ranks high up on my list.

We almost did at one point, I believe.

That was something else. And Lousiville keep matching their spirited ending with their own good play. If you compare the play in the last two minutes of UM-UL to the play (or should I say lack of quality play) in the last two minutes of Georgetown-Villanova, its hard to imagine it was the same conference.

Dickens I know you are a Cal fan also. You can tell me, I wont tell anyone..:):):)

I think Cal's a great coach. That's pretty much all good I can say about him. My favorite NCAA basketball coach other than Pearl is Bill Self. Easily.

KU 2009 = UNC 2006. Incredible year after losing everyone.

Donovan and Florida haven't been the same since the debacle surrounding his botched move to the NBA, and neither side will be for awhile.

Georgetown-Villanova was certainly far from a thing of beauty. That was the strangest statistic of the trip. The winning teams in the two games I attended Saturday combined for 48 turnovers.
