Watching this now sure does bring back memories. I attended those first two Championship games and feel like I experienced a monumental part of college football history. Roy Kramer really deserves his place in history for making this happen. I was a teenager at the time and didn't remember how much opposition he got for starting the game. Its very ironic we are the only school the game cost a shot at the national title!

There have been 3 upsets over the 20 years, but '01 was by far the most stunning.

Only 3 underdogs have won? I didn't know that. The other 2 were both when FL played Bama and were number 1&2. That correct?

Six times a lower ranked team won, some may have not been upsets according to Vegas.

1994 #6 UF beat #3 UA This cost Alabama the chance to play in the Bowl Coalition Championship game which had they won they would have won the Coaches Poll but likely not the AP.

1999 #7 UA beat #5 UF

2001 #21 LSU beat #2 UT This cost Tennessee the chance to play in BCSNCG

2005 #13 UGA beat #3 LSU, LSU had one loss and would NOT have played over Texas or USC in the BCSNCG had the won.

2008 #2 UF beat #1 UA basically an unofficial national semifinal
2009 #2 UA beat #1 UF basically an unofficial national semifinal

So two to four(if you think the BCS would have chose UA/UF two years in a row w/o a title game) SEC Teams have been cost the chance at a NC by the SECCG.
