OL Ja'Wuan James said this in a timesfree press article...

James said. "At this point we're just trying to win two games. We have 3 more chances with us 5 ol trying to do it.

screw 2 games, we want 3 not 2. but will settle for 2 to make a bowl game.

I mean, I know it's the obvious goal, but I'm a little surprised that Butch flat out said the team has to make a bowl game.

He must feel pretty confident about Vandy and UK to say that.

"Trying to win two games" when two out of the three are Vandy at home and UK-- is pretty uninspired. Doesn't sound very fired up about it.

I was wanting everybody's opinion. Do we win the KY & VANDY gm? And if we don't what does everybody think about this team moving foward?

About inspired as hes played it sounds. "Dylan Wiesman?"
"yes coach?" "suit up you're going to play against Auburn"

I see no problem with that. That means they are trying to win every game because they know they only have 3 chances. If they happen to win the first 2, then the last one is the easiest. Please don't make a big deal out of that.

Not expecting a win Saturday tbh. Keep it reasonably close and win the final two.

If you've ever dealt with the press or been interviewed, they take only 10% of what is actually said and use most of that out of context. Without hearing the actual interview verbatim, it is impossible to know the tone and intent of Ja'Wuan's comments.

If we lose Homecoming, there are going to be a lot of pissed off alums, because Homecoming is a game you do not want to lose. If we lose to Vandy at Neyland, there will be a larger, more vocal crowd of pissed off fans. If we lose to UK anywhere, there will be hordes of pissed off fans vocalizing epic displeasure.

The goal should be to win ALL THREE games. Anything less should never be stated as a goal to the media. A month ago, that wouldn't have happened. The team believed, and they made the fans believe. Attitudes have changed, motivation has downshifted and confidence has evaporated. Sure wish we could get that home swagger back.

Maybe Butch has the same mindset that we fans have. You should always beat Candy and Kensucky year in and year out.

Hey you know what we should do? We should look at every word these guys say under a microscope and try to figure out what sort of philosophical, psychological meaning there is behind them...kinda like the media does!

Or... we could just take what he said exactly for what he said. There are 3 games left, and the goal is to get to a bowl game, which means winning at least 2 games. End of story.

If the same team shows up that played Georgia & South Carolina then they win the last three. If the same team shows up that played Alabama & Mizzo then they lose the last three. Yes even Ky.

I for one am glad to see that Butch is challenging this team. We may not be playing for a NC, but we are still playing for a bowl game. If you are the head football coach at Tennessee you can't be scared to issue a challenge your team. In fact, you must demand that they challenge themselves. Butch has challenged them in such a way to make these last three games matter.
If we lose this weekend, there is still a reason to come to practice and work your tail off.

Did we lose it? We have only lost one game at home this year and that was in OT against Georgia.

Vandy is toss up.. Auburn is a loss. Kentucky is on the road, a place where can't get out of our own way. These last 3 will be interesting. Well last two anyway.

Truth, this.
