So all my Penn State buddies seem to think they are a lock for the playoff. Although possible, I have been arguing with them all evening. My points:

Their schedule is trash. Zero wins against a good team.

Chances are the Big10 ans SEC runner-ups will also have 1 loss...but will have played in the conference title game.

Notre Dame has 1 loss...to Georgia.

Big12 champion may only have 1 loss and will have beaten some studs in doing so.

Clemson.

Thoughts? Who do you like to be in the final 4?

If I had to pick today I would put them in. Even with today’s collapse. Ped St, OSU, Bama, GA, and Clemson would be my pool

I agree things could definitely fall into place for them, but I really don't think they get any favors if there are a bunch of 1 loss teams.


Akron, Pitt, Georgia State...nonconference schedule may be their undoing.

Right now, I'd go Bama, UGA, OSU, ND, Clemson, OK/OK State winner.

PSU, TCU obviously still alive. I think Wisconsin is living off their historically awful schedule.

Those are reasonable picks too. Still early also. But I think PSU’s weak ass schedule works against them as time goes on. They have zero room for error from here on out.

Today, and the way the game went, may actually help Penn State get in the playoff. They have to beat Michigan State next week for sure.

Big 12 and SEC have a good chance to get two teams each in. OSU/Wiscy/Penn State are all in contention. What if OSU has a close win vs Wiscy in title game. A 12-1 Wiscy would get in over 11-1 Penn State.

I’m convinced a 12-1 UGA will get the 3 seed. SEC will get two in if UGA and Bama are 1 and 2 going into Atlanta and both 12-0
