$ 360k is nothing lol. We are paying someone $ 2M a year.
Never underestimate the big oil money in Dallas and Highland Park. It all depends on if they can get their donor base back together like A&M did.

Lots of disillusioned 4* and 5* kids have already returned home to SMU and lots more 4* & 5* kids in the D/FW market.

Is Sherwood Blount still around? lol

Yeah but that big money is going to Texas and Texas A&M, not to SMU.

Unrestricted free agency in CFB might change that too. Some kids don't want to wait 2,3 or four years to see the field.

We are heading in a direction similar to College Basketball with the one-and-dones. It is harder to do that in Football because seniority and staying with a system typically matters even more in football. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I do think it might be better in the long-term for the sport because it presents opportunities for other teams to compete outside of the monopolies of recent years: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, etc.

True story.
While back went to a BOA ATM near my house (North Dallas). While I was waiting for the person in front of me to finish, glanced around to the side and what do I see? The lot next door is being sold by Sherwood Blount realty.

BuBear, only one Lambo dealership that I know of in Dallas. Up 75 just before the 635 interchange. I drool several times daily driving by there, but never on a Saturday. On Saturdays, a bunch of owners meet at the dealership and drive north to the casinos in Oklahoma. If you have never had the misfortune of being surrounded in Dallas traffic by Lambos (like 50 of them) it is quite the experience. I was terrified I would have a tire blowout at that exact moment and spend the rest of my life working to pay off the damages.

Except as we have already seen those schools will start poaching the best players too.

Bama took To'oto'o from us, a WR from Georgia after they won the NC, a WR from Ohio State, Vandys first round OL, GT's best player in that RB.

Georgia has taken some guys, Ohio State. USC getting back in the game taking the best WR in the nation from Pitt

It won't just be about coaching anymore but NIL as well. Sure they will still get players but they won't get all of the players like they are now. Other schools can pay the bills. Think schools with large fanbases that have been struggling like Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas, FSU, etc.

It wont change those at the top. UCF with the largest fanbase isnt suddenly going to be a perenial playoff team. It will just shuffle about those in the middle.

UCF has a large fanbase? If you remove their "national championship" season, I would be hard pressed to name two people who live outside Orlando who give a crap about UCF.

There's a reason we were able to steal the their AD and coach.

It will change somewhat. UCF isn't one but think Nebraska, Michigan (eventually once they get out of their way), Penn State, USC, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, etc.

Just in SEC, Alabama right now can scoop up most the top talent because SABAN but when players start getting financial benefits, it is going to get spread out because Alabama cannot buy all the players Financially and money talks.

In a moneyless league, yes pick the school with best coach but in a league that makes money, other schools/$$$ starts playing a major factor.

They have the largest student body, so I would assume large support base.

I think any of the top half of teams in the SEC could afford to buy the top players up to their scholarship cap. I think NIL will quickly balance out after a few years of mega deals. At least for HS players. I think top performers will be bought for a premium by the big dogs.

Trust me brother, outside Orlando nobody gives a crap about UCF. It's pretty hemmed in by UF and FSU fans with the odd UGA fan here and there a little north. Hell, even going west you don't get far out of Orlando on I-4 before it become USF territory. Go south and you start hitting the Miami fans pretty quickly.

UCF is primarily a commuter school still. Think University of Houston with cooler weather and a Disney theme. Large number of students, yes but many are taking one class, etc. They are making strides, but as I said before-there is a reason we were able to poach their AD and coach quickly.

Agree but it won't be like the past decade with most of the 5 stars going to 4-5 schools. It will be more evenly spread out again.
