The real reason UK lost. It's funny actually.

They lost this game because of Cals last minute coaching. UK had this hard fought game won until Cal tried to be like Coach K and do the 4 corners. That is not this teams style and it messed up the game for them. Besides that they would be in the finals.

he's being considered for the NBA.lol. whichever team lands him are going to have the same run as he did when he coached the nets. a great recruiter does not make you a great coach.

He would get a team like the most recent version of the Heat big 3 every season and when they break up he would get the next group. players love him. But as we know players win the regular season but coaches win in the playoffs. It would basically look how Cleveland was before Lebron left the first time. best record every year then knocked off in conference semis. He got away from what got him there. Everytime he tries to coach he messes up. It's not his skill set. Motivation and discipline during the game is his strength not strategic moves.

How on earth do you not feed Towns in the low post every time? He was unguardable.

I can't remember if it was a player who said it, or Cal himself (maybe a Harrison). But said something like "our plan was to give it to Karl". Which made me say BS. I find it hard to believe the player asked for those 2 isos, but damn, that was the worst 4 minutes of the season offensively.

Before the game they said uk didnt watch film of wisconsin bc coach cal wanted them to focus on themselves.

I thought that was a bit risky

It's called crunch time, and it will probably go down in most fans mind as one of the worst coaching jobs in NCAAT history. It can only be rivaled by the last time Cal did this at Memphis except it didn't ruin a perfect season for them too. I am sure Bama fans can relate it happened to them in Football this year too!

I took it as he felt they would see something he didn't want them to see. Like they were just as good.

I wouldn't compare it to Saban coaching. He has won many times. But he obviously hasn't learned a thingfrom 08. Exact same mistakes. It's a defiency and all coaches have them but his is in the last 4 minutes specifically. That ncaa run last year was mostly 4 unreal outcomes in the last 4 minutes that never come out right for cal. It just happened all in a row against great teams so itseemed likke their new identity. Then he did it 3 times against far inferior talent who had no shot at winning. He got a carrers worth in like7 games within a year. Last night is the true cal. Shouldn't be surprised.

Are you being serious or joking?

If serious, that's one of the damndest coaching decisions I've ever heard of in my life.

One of the KY posters here said that their usual practice is for the coaches to watch film without the players and then let the players know what to watch for, etc. fwiw

I wasn't comparing the coaching just that fact that both had their first lost of the season in the final four.

But that's not what Tracy Wolfson reported. She said, Cal told her he didn't even watch film on Wisconisn because he wanted the focus to be on and about his team. If the scenario wasn't anything different than what he normally does, then why does he feel the need to tell Wolfson and she feel compelled to report it? It was either Cal being smug and lying or it was Cal being an idiot. Neither are an ideal situation.

If this actually happened then he deserves every single but of criticism he's going to get. There is absolutely no excuse for a coach to not prepare his team for what they are about to go up against.

Them again calling him a coach is a bit of a stretch.

Then she either misunderstood, or he was just making light. Of course the coaches watched film.

When I heard her make that statement, I told a friend, "That's a lie." I don't doubt him telling her that. He loves self promotion and is good at it.

He said it. He said last week that the players only watch about 10 minutes of film during the team meal looking at the opponent. To me that is so damn arrogant.
