2 questions here:

1) Why exactly do we not have Marquez back there? At least on kickoffs I feel like he is a pretty prime candidate. He was a WR/RB hybrid so surely he knows how to break tackles.

2) Will Devrin be back Saturday?

Also, I was never very impressed with Dallas. I honestly thought "surely on a roster of this many D-1 football players we can find someone better than Vincent Dallas to return kicks". I feel the same way about Jacob Carter returning punts.

The coaches don't want to take a chance on North getting injured, and I think Young is supposed to be back this weekend but I'm not for sure.

I agree. Too thin too young....but i do see a need for a playmaker back there....pig would be fun to watch

Returning kicks is all about staying healthy on kickoff returns. It is all about trust on punt returns. On a team that has as little margin for error that we have, we will sacrifice a little dynamics for securing the catch. We cannot afford muffed punt turnovers. As the roster gets deeper and we become more of a threat offensively and defensively you take a little more of the risk because you know the overall team can absorb it if something catastrophic happens.

I actually thought that Dallas ran with reckless abandon straight up the field, instead of running sideways, on most kickoffs. He may not have broken one, but I thought that he gave it a good shot. A lot of kickoffs were too deep to return in the last game.

Carter is back there on punts because he is dependable. I don't think that we have game changers in the return game.

foreman is good with the ball in his hands and he can fly. why put your best young player at WR back deep on kickoffs when your int he position UT is in personnel wise? you must not understand football. Foreman was going to be the kick returner in the future but his time has come a little early. Atleast hes a threat to rip off a big return instead of running completely straight into the first defender like dallas did. Returning Kicks is something foreman has always done and i dont think its a big deal. i think some people will be surprised at the dynamic he gives us.

I'm with 72....esp reguarding Carter. When we hold a team to a punt I like ending up with the ball.

Oh ok.

Well I've seen a decent player named CP return kicks and I heard he was one of our best. And I've seen some guy named Eric Berry return kicks, therefore I didn't think it would be crazy to have one of your better players return them. It seems like some coaches agree.

Maybe you're the only one out there who understands football though.

I've always been against putting star players returning unless they are gifted (like CP). Why risk the injuries? Don't put North back there. I would put Summerhill or Jabo Lee (lulz)

Do not beat up on Dallas or Carter. You must be forgetting too quickly that not long ago we didn't have anyone who could consistently even catch the darn ball, let alone return a kick. Dallas and Carter could catch the ball and not drop the thing. Kindly be thankful for players who could do this and refrain from negitizing them. Just remember people like Nu'Keese jumping out of the way of the ball and running from it. Others who did worse. Then realize how fortunate we are to have players like Dallas (gone now) and Carter. I hate it when people who are fans put down our players.

We are very thin and also don't have a legitimate threat for kick/punt returns on the roster so we've opted to put guys back there who simply catch the ball.

Well Nancy maybe I should mention that Carter is one of my favorite recievers. IMO he should be getting Josh Smith's reps. Smith is great, he's just not quite ready yet.

And Dallas just isn't very good. Doesn't matter, he's gone now. But I wasn't putting down our players.

Should have said so in the first place instead of negatizing the players who catch kicked balls. But no matter, Suzanne Somers, you say you like Vols so you can't be all bad. :hi:

What have you saw out of J Smith that makes you think he's not ready? Because he's dropped a few passes? If that's the case then I don't guess any of our receivers are "ready".

Dallas and Carter aren't top notch by any means BUT they are solid. That's all you can ask for

Edit: was* for Dallas

I love Jacob Carter returning punts. He is sure handed, makes good decisions and averages almost 10 yards per return. Obviously he isn't a home run threat but until we find a dynamic returner that can catch the ball I'll be perfectly happy with JC back there.
