This is a modified post from another thread I responded to, but I think it applies here too:
Mr. Clausen's middle son, you know, the one that has a weak arm, bad mechanics, and no mobility, just proved himself as a leader tonight. And IMO just won the starting job for this season. But with the way CPF has handled the QB situation, who knows. The team plays totally different when he's in the game.
This is no knock against Ainge. In fact I believe that Ainge should have been the #1 at the start, because I believe you should never lose your starting position due to injury. Now, while it should have been clear that Ainge was the #1, it should have also been clear that he needed to do 2 things quickly: earn the trust and respect of the team as a leader and play up to his billed potential. He did neither, and went out in the first half of the LSU game and pulled a C. J. Leak imitation. It should have also been clear that if he did not do these 2 things that it would be likely that Clausen would replace him.
There should be no question now who the QB is. I hate it for Ainge, but Slick Rick beat him out fair and square. We know what kind of character Rick Clausen has, and he's made of. We're about to find out over the next 9 months what Erik Ainge is made of.
