If Oregon wins, That makes 5 consecutive champions that had beaten Tennessee. 3 of those 5 wins were in Neyland. One was a neutral field (Georgia Dome).

Can any other team in the modern era (1970) claim to have lost to the eventual national champion 5 consecutive years?

LMAO

It's all coincidence. It has nothing to do with Tennessee.

And I don't think any team wants to claim that. They'd rather be winning the National Title.

I was being facetious with the thread title. I'm not bragging about it. You are right, it is just a coincidence.

It's not a coincidence per se. The SEC has been dominating the BCS so there are probably other SEC teams with the same or similar situation (particularly if Auburn wins).

Regardless if those teams would have played Tennessee or not, they still would have won BCS titles.
