I noticed chavisut has a shot from the movie as an avatar...

I'm a huge Cormac McCarthy fan...No Country for Old Men was one of my favortie books well before the movie came out...

Anyone have any news or insight on the movie....

I heard it was due out in late November

I've looked all over the net and all they have released are about 6 screenshots. No trailer or even a teaser. I sorta had a feeling it was going to be pushed back.

Yes it is!! When I saw it was going to be made into a movie I was more excited than when I saw the same news for No Country for Old Men

That sucks that it's been pushed back...has there been a date set or have they just said 09'

According to IMDB, it just says '09. I haven't looked any further though, it might be out there somewhere. I'll try to find something on it later.

FYI for all the McCarthy fans...I always tout Suttree. It is easily my favorite novel the McCarthy has done. Ebert gives it a shout out on his website and tells how Cormac's writing got him through the days while dealing with his new disability.

If you haven't read Suttree, it is set in the City of Knoxville and it is widely believed to be somewhat autobiographical.

Awesome...I'll check it out...

I just finisihed the Border Trilogy and I loved it...

I have to say All the Pretty Horses was my favorite of the three...I will also say that I had a bit of a hard time with The Crossing....but from what I've read about the book that's not unusual...alot of critics say it's McCarthy's deepest, most philosophical and all-around best book

Have any of yall read the sunset limited? I really liked it a lot though sort of depressing as well. The main thing I liked was the format and quick dialogue. I think its pretty powerful but I could definitely see some people not liking it.

Even the part about raping Melons?! Couldn't agree more though, loved the book and its very cool to here him talk about some of places and streets in Knoxville that are still around.

But I can't pass up a McCarthy discussion without throwing out Blood Meridian (don't think it was mentioned yet). Its by far my favorite of his books and is also in the works of becoming a movie, or so they say right now. It also inspired a theme album from one of my favorite artists that, if you've read the book, is IMO an amazing work of art.

Awesome....word of advice...when you get to "The Crossing"...stick with it...

It can be a little difficult to read at times but many consider it his best work

like i said earlier, i read the road and now i'm almost done with all the pretty horses. i think they all have parts that get slow, but i'm really enjoying the way this guy writes. i just wish he used commas.

i plan on checking out all of his books. i think i should've read no country for old men before i started the triology. i know i can read it after this one, but it just wouldnt be right.

Did anyone get to see the flim yet? Hopefully, it will be opening here in Nashville this weekend but I'm trying not to get my hopes up after last week's let down.

I have just read this book based on chavis' suggestion in another thread.
What a light-hearted romp that was...

I don't read nearly as much as I should...the limited reading I do is usually at night before bed. Needless to say, I couldn't do that with this book. It was like trying to go to sleep listening to Art Bell.

Harrogate remains as my favorite literary character of all time.
