Are you guys glad South Carolina and Arkansas joined the conference? What is the perspective from the old school fans?

I don't mind having Carolina and Arkansas. Both schools have decent programs and recruit well. I'd still like too see Georgia Tech added myself.

Nah, Vandy belongs in the SEC. The only other conference I could see the "Dores playing in would be C-USA

I am glad that Arkansas has joined the conference, but not South Carolina. Arkansas is a team with decent history from a very good conference in the SWC. Their fans are knowledgable and respectful and aren't jerk-offs. However, I wish that SC would take their idiot fans that think they are God's gift to college football and take their jackass coach and their hippie QB they had back in the early '90's by the name of Taneyhill (sp) and go back to whatever hole they crawled out of.

So how do you REALLY feel about Carolina? :)

Eh, I've never known the SEC without Arkansas or South Carolina. Don't mind their presence at all.

I lost all respect after South Carolina after the 2005 game. Me and my girlfriend had tickets given to us in the SC section in the lower level. We were enjoying the game and were having very civilized conversation with them before the game. When the game kicked off they were cussing and calling names and anything else you can think of. When it was apparent they we had lost (about 1:00 to go) I decided to go ahead and scoot on out to avoid any unwanted situation since I had the gf with me. As we were leaving, they started yelling that it was about time to get that b*tch gf of mine out of there. I proceded to turn around and march back up the steps before I was stopped by a usher, ut fan, and my gf. So now all SC fans can kiss my :moon2: . :finger3:

You can't argue that SC has one of the most supportive fan bases in the country. I know many SC fans that are extremely knowledgable about CFB. Both teams have had some competitive teams. Both teams were great additions to the conference.
I wish we could get 2 more, VA Tech and WVU. Maybe someone from NC. At least 1 team from every southeastern state.

Arkansas brought several good athletic programs to the SEC (football, track, and formerly basketball). I think SC was just convenient program to plug in to balance the Arkansas addition when Bowden vetoed FSU joining the SEC. Has SC won a SEC title in any sport?

I agree 100%. Was the SEC actually trying to get FSU?

The last time TN played Marshall before this year I witnessed a situation between a group of TN fans (all young men) and a 40-year-old woman dressed in Marshall clothes. She was standing there watching the band from the hill before the game when these guys started lobbing BAD insults over to her. She was on the verge of tears before they left. That was BEFORE the game. It definitely goes both ways.

They have a great baseball program and a respectable basketball program. As far as SEC titles I'm not sure.

After checking their website, a couple baseball and softball championships, a few womens track, one basketball championship and 3 national equestrian championships. Just hard to get over that 12 all time bowl appearances with 3 wins.

It probably increases the value of my pre-SC,ARK-addition "Got Em' Treed" print.

Yeah, FSU was courted. As I recall the rumor was Bowden refused to go along with it when he was told what teams he would have to play every year. The SEC really wanted Texas and A&M out of the SWC but the Texas legislature stopped that.

I don't think of West Virginia as a south-eastern state at all. Virginia Tech is OK with me I guess..since it is in south-west Virginia. But..I don't even have a great feeling about that one. It just feels like ACC country. I would gladly take Georgia Tech. I don't like Florida State so they can stay out.

Wasn't it a couple of years ago that Vandy contemplated dropping football as a varsity sport? Right around the time of the whole Big East/ACC changes?

Don't know if they thought about dropping football. They did disband the Athletic Department and moved the management /oversight all SEC sports into the same department that oversees intramural sports and other student activities. That was part of Chancellor Gee's attempt to de-emphasize college sports and have a better excuse for not achieving anything athletically.
