1. The first five minutes were really good, then UT lost interest. Given the quality of the opponent, I don't really blame them.
2. The crowd was better than I expected after Saturday's debacle. Not a bad gathering for an awful opponent two nights before Christmas.
3. Seeing Jerry Eaves brought back some good memories. The Doctors Of Dunk were one of the most entertaining teams ever.
4. A&T's guards didn't exactly exercise quality judgment in selecting their shots. They acted as if passing was a mortal sin.
5. I liked what I saw out of Kenny Hall tonight. He was the only guy who didn't get caught up in trying to make circus plays and simply did his job.
6. Someone should organize a tournament between the teams UT has played at TBA so far this season. It could be televised on cable access at 2 AM and called The Hoopscrap Classic.
7. Charlotte getting nuked at Old Dominion tonight indicates UT will have not played a decent team in their home arena until Kansas and Ole Miss come to town. Here's hoping it's not a shock to their sytstem for the opponent to actually be able to pass and catch the ball.
8. UT is like Mike Tyson right now. They look like a destructive force against opponents who can't defend themselves, but want no part of someone who hits back.
9. The next four weeks will define this team. If they don't perform, the train will come completely off the tracks.
10. Everyone have a Merry Christmas. Here's hoping the break is good to this team.

Nice job Hat. Agree 100% on Kenny Hall. He looks very promising. Hopefully, his minutes will increase as the season moves along.

Classic

:lolabove: Great analogy. Tyson was great in The Hangover

Agreed about Kenny Hall. He is by far my favorite player(well, it's a toss up between he and Cam Tatum) when he is on the floor.

I listened to the first half, and sometime near the end of it, Bert said as if he was breaking some news or something, "This isn't a very good team at all that the Vols are playing tonight."

Thanks, Bert, the 20+ turnovers in that half kind of tipped me off.

Not to rain on everybody's "Knock on Christmas" parade, but thanks for the good wishes, Hat.

This game is what it is. An undermatched team tried to play into our strength. You saw what happens. Just about every team from here out will do the opposite: slow us down, make us play defense, and make us beat them in the half-court. USC did it, and they did it well. They would probably win less than half off our remaining schedule...so we better be ready.

Positives: we're a lot of fun in the run. Showboating and rattling rims brings applause and fanfare.

Negatives: still a lot of suspect passing and ball-handling, too many 3's from the big men, and I still think that Tyler and Scotty have got to get more aggressive. BW seemed like he shot about 5% inside of 3 feet. Bad, bad, bad.

Well...get ready, folks. It gets a whole lot more interesting from here out. Merry Christmas to all, and I'll see you guys back after the New Year. Hopefully, we'll bring back a little bragging rights over the Hokies from Atlanta.

Color me rather unimpressed. Two stats that jump out at me: Hopson and Tatum were a combined 0 for 9 on three pointers, and we turned it over 24 times against a horrendous team. The only bright spots were the play of McBee and Hall, and at times, Prince.

Hat,

Think Hall gets more mins than Williams in upcoming games?

Let's not get too froggy here...Hall is respectable against crappy teams. He has done nada against descent teams. He is, at best, a year away. Raw on offense because he can't dunk on everyone. Fouls and gets pushed around on defense. He has Shaquille O'neal's offensive skill set in the body of Tayshaun Prince.
Teddy Bear has regressed since the end of last year when he was playing the high post very well. But hey, this whole team has regressed.
Sad state of affairs.

Bruce needs to ask Prince to stay home after the break. He then needs to have Tyler over and let him know that they need to help each other - Tyler needs to crawl into the bottom of the league draft and Pearl needs to keep his job. The way things are going so far they are not helping each other at all.

Which decent teams has he played?

4 minutes at Purdue.
2 minutes at DePaul
8 minutes at USC

I think he took 0 shots.

His body of work against "good teams" is hardly something one can judge at this point.

If Hall shows that he is a hard worker i'd start him. He is a great talent and has a ton of upside. Plus, he can improve the level of hustle.

Bruce should institute a moratorium on three point shooting until somebody proves they can get a rebound and a put back.

I say put one of those electric collars on Wayne Chism not letting him go farther than 10 feet from the basket on offense. That would completely change the offense.

+1...but seeing as that I've been asking for that for 2 years, I don't see it in my stocking.

You're obviously not being forceful enough in your observations. Surely the powers that be can relate to our consternation..

Prince is absolutely horrendous at the game of basketball. I don't how else to put it.

That is all.
