1. Our point guards made Mike Gerrity look like Bob Cousy. Can we dispense with the silly notion that we are any better at that position this year.
2. Tennessee's post players got annihilated by Alex Stepheson. Chism is either going to step up or need to learn an obscure foreign language.
3. Brian Williams was more concerned at mouthing at Dwight Lewis than playing. Note to Brian: Talking crap while you're getting schooled looks really, really stupid.
4. Not sure what's wrong with Tyler Smith. He has regressed to the point that he's almost a liability.
5. If KO had any depth at his disposal, they'd have a shot at winning 10 games in the PAC 10. Getting Leonard Washington eligible will help immensely.
6. Cam Tatum attempted to play. He's about the only guy who showed a pulse.
7. West Virginia survived Huggs' annual nonconference road scare by a non BCS opponent. The game with Ole Miss will be fun.
8. North Carolina better start playing defense. Texas ran a layup drill against them today.
9. Butler really needed that win today. They can absorb an upset loss in the Horizon and still be comfortable they'll make the NCAA Tournament.
10. It's one game. The important thing is how Tennessee responds now.

good report, as always...

What's sad is that this team will win 20-23 games, make the NCAA, and get bounced in the first round, and we will have to do it all over again and again as long as Pearl is here.

#2 is classic.

KO played his bench less than 20 minutes, it produced 2 points and they still slammed us by 22.

The part that hurts the most is we were schooled by the weakest conference in basketball this year. Maybe Tennessee should just leave Pac-10 opponents alone in all sports lol.

Yes, the rest of the team needs to play with that kind of heart

I have to say, Hat, you were right about Pearl. Although I'm not happy to admit it, since I really wanted our basketball program to take off to the next level. But its just not going to under Bruce.

Did you catch the last 30 seconds? Full scale football-like play with an amazing review of the timing to declare the game over. I wonder if any procedural errors were made by the officials in how they judged the time clock.

I agree with No. 4 and it makes me sad. What the heck happened???

I expect us to hear something horrible about him after the season... like he was playing through some horrendous injury or illness.

Yes, I am eating crow too. I have been giving Hat a hard time regarding Bruce for months. I am very disappointed with the undisciplined play. There is no reason a team so talented should take some many contested shots, have Chism to continue to shoot 3's, and get mauled on the boards!

Maybe I am just missing it and UT needed to fill out a schedule but if there are other reasons why Tennessee travelled to Southern Cal to play basketball, please show me the light. The only I can come up with is recruiting. Our efforts today failed in that regard. Is it a home/home like in football? Just curious.

Because you can't continually play pansy teams like UNCA, it kills your SOS. USC has been solid the past few years so we scheduled them

If we had won like we should have, would this even be an issue? Seems like these "why are we playing them" topics only come up when Tennessee loses.

Something has to change with this team. I have to DVR every game even when I'm at home because it's too painful to watch live. Pearl has done a sorry ass job of getting this team ready to play. Tyler Smith has went downhill every year since he's been here. There is absolutely NO leadership on this team.

USC is pretty horrible. I'd rather lose to Richmond than get smoked by any Pac-10 team this year.

I will say one thing, even with the Georgia win over Illinois, today should pretty much put to rest the SEC v Big Ten argument.

Which there never was much of an argument to begin with. Just one lost soul babbling all over the place about it, perhaps made it seem as though it had steam.

As for the game, sorry about the loss guys. I was tied up with some business and never seen the first play, just the score when it scrolled across the ticker. I found out about the UT loss and the Saints losing at the same time, and wondered WTF in the wild world of sports was happening.

But as we have discussed before, I am not completely surprised.

I'm off to the Titans game.

You know, it occurred to me during yesterday's slaughter that Tennessee's intensity level, discipline, fundamental soundness, and offensive philosophy show striking resemblance to what you would see during an all-star game.
