If CBJ is any coach at all, he now knows what his team strength is.

The Offensive Line.

We will miss the Big 3 desperately, but the one unit under-utilized by the Chaney PS3 offense was the O-line. CP was the most exciting Vol with the ball since Chuck Webb, but Chaney should have run the ball A LOT more last year. Would have meant a winning season.

The last time I saw lanes like our O-line made this year was when I was in E5 watching the 1992 Bama team make four lane highways in Neyland (the 17-10 scoreline was not as close as it seemed).

We can't lose our three most talented players and think it won't hurt. But if CBJ can get buy-in to his system, and if he leans on the O-line, we will be bowling and winning this time next year.

GBO! Never stop looking for Rommel.

I think a fresh start is needed, but would love for CP to come back

I agree the O-line is going to be monstrous. What I don't understand is the people that keep saying "2014 we won't have an O-line, oh noes the O-line will all graduate".

Lets get a winning season this year for the first time since Kiffin then I'll start worrying about 2014 and further.

Agreed. We will miss their talent, but there could be a bit of addition by subtraction with potential attitude issues and buying into the new system. I rather have a whole team ALL IN than a few talented players who might resist.

We'll obviously have to run the ball more next year with a new QB and all new receiving corp. I can't see how our passing game will be good, at all, and the defense will have to improve a lot just to go from terrible from mediocre. The running game is all we've got going into the season.

I absolutely thought he was the most exciting player in Orange since Chuck Webb. Can't think of any higher praise for a UT football player.

Absolutely agree. We've got to demonstrate the Dooley era is over, and a bowl game will do that. I think CBJ's most important jobs are to dramatically improve this recruiting class and get to a bowl game.

The good thing is the defense is more talented than Wilcox's last unit, and he had that unit playing well. I have no idea who the University of Cincinnati DC was, but I can't imagine he isn't an upgrade over Sal Pizzareia.

Unless I am mistaken, every team in America was able to score this year without the "Big 3." U.T. will score without them also.

I don't think Chaney should have necessarily run the ball more, but had C.P. learned the playbook and had Hunter caught the ball like Zack did, we would have won more games.

Think of all of the dropped passes that Hunter had, that could have gone for 1st downs and extended the game or of all the T.D.'s he could have had. Some resulting in wins.

Think of all of the times that C.P. ran the wrong route and Bray had to throw the ball away and had a loss of downs. Think of all of the times that C.P. ran the wrong route and Bray forced it and it was intercepted. Think of all of the times that C.P. ran the wrong route and Bray had to go to his second receiver on the play. Had C.P. been open, that would have been a 10 yard or 15 yard gains rather than shorter gains by passing to the second receiver.

The biggest issue with the offense last season was dropped passes.....

Better defense=more wins. Line will be base for rebuilding. Offense will be fine. Also, kicking game MUST be a weapon and not a liability.

For UT to become relevent once again we will need a Big time SEC running back or two.....peroid.....all the top SEC schools have 1 or 2 dominate backs. The Vols have been lacking this talent for years....when you can line up and run the ball with consistancy, big plays start to happen. This past year we ran the ball better but oponents still didn't give much respect to the run and thus disrupting Bray was the answer....it worked the majority of the time......this coupled with our poor defense brings us to where we finished.....2 SEC wins in 2 Years.....not Good obviously.....we simply must secure a couple of stud running backs.....some how some way

The only silver lining will be if they ball out they give us more exposure with younger players. There is no upside on the field in losing our three best players though.
