You guys who jump on here immediately after the first loss and start bad mouthing this team and spouting doom and gloom predictions for the rest of the season KILL ME! A little perspective please! No, we didn't play well, but we only lost by one point to the #6 team in the country. The fact that we almost (probably should have) beat Purdue after playing poorly should ACTUALLY give us hope for this season. At least that is the way I see it. If we play them again in the NCAA, I really like our chances.

Go Vols! I'm behind you.

Not stirring the pot, but you've been here since 07 and expected different reactions? Seriously?

btw, I too am optimistic, but when I saw the final last night, the first thing I thought of was, "How many nega basketvol threads will be cranked out by the time I get to work?"

True....I agree. I think we looked decent and had a chance at the buzzer to beat a very good Purdue team. It will only get better. GBO!

Time will tell just how good Purdue really is but from what i saw I would say we lost to a pretty good basketball team by only one point and had an excellent opportunity to beat them. The last shot taken was wide open and would have been taken 90% of the time... if we had gotten it up up a little sooner and been in position we could have gotten the rebound and still won. I think the Vols will be OK.... and any other given night we would have won.... GOOD JOB TEAM< GO VOLS

Right, God forbid that any of us see realistic deficiencies in either the players or coaching.

If you are satisfied with a play that has a 32% chance of winning the game, down by only one point, well...that's your prerogative. If you are fine that we don't seem to have confidence to call a timeout and get a decent play scripted...same thought. If you are fine with sloppy passing and a few players that really aren't performing to their potential... You get the picture.

We will have to make DRAMATIC improvements over last night's performance to expect anything other than another early exit from the AAs.

Negavol.

Melvin Goins has solved our point guard problems, and we have one of the country's best deep threats in Washeed Chism. We're takin' it to da Final Four. Belie 'dat.

Oh you're right, I forgot the NCAA tournament starts in two weeks. There's 30 more games. Breathe, in, out, in, out, good. Like grade school, can you show your math on the 32% chance of winning a game? Because honestly I think we have a 67.3% chance of winning when we take the court. I have a giant computer that has all of these blinking lights and dials and then after hours of computing, it spit out this piece of paper that told me 67.3%. Do you have one of those too?

You're obviously really good with numbers.

Calculate Chism's three point shooting percentage and let us know what you come up with.

So in the postseason do you think we'll get them without their best player on the court for more than half the game because of foul trouble and still lose?

We should have won that game. Period.

Sounds futuristic. I can't speak for the others, but I find myself intimidated by your technological acumen and mathematical expertise.

It's a common problem. I made Stephen Hawking cry one time because I beat him at a game of mathblaster

Got it. Watch the Vols, then post a cheer. So what if this looks suspiciously like every Bruce Pearl team I have ever seen--athletic, inconsistent, high-powered, undisciplined, dangerous, and soft. Anybody got tickets to the final four?

I think your computer is missing some information because I believe we will win more than 2 out of every 3 of our games. If you forced me to predict right now, I'd say we will again throw up a gaudy regular season record and then struggle at tournament time when competition gets tougher, games become relegated to the half-court, and weaknesses become impossible to conceal.

The computer never lies! Embrace its infinite wisdom!

Enjoying the benefits of certain plants in the afternoon makes for some weird wall posts. But I still think that people that jump all over the team at this point are paranoid. Wait, maybe I'm paranoid! Screw it, I'm gonna go make a sandwich.

You are not helping yourself with each terrible post after another.
