I'll go on record tonight to saying a heartfelt thankyou for those of you who have expressed an "open arms" attitude as to welcoming aTm in your conference. Regardless of your motives, I have come to realize more and more that secession from the powers that be in the big12 is an achievable goal that should be sought out.

In all of this, we have discovered certain truths concering the landscape of our conference.texas and ou hold the keys. Its unfortunate from an aggie's standpoint that this is the case, but it is. I make no claims otherwise. I hope however, that the egocentristic views of the folks in austin have come to light on a national scale. Me being here, allowed me to be aware of this for quite some time.

I expect this conference to fail. I expect this series of events to only continue to fan the fire that burns with other big12 schools that have had enough of texas and its authorities. While I'll concede that we, to a point, need to continue to be linked to austin, I'll refute the idea that we could not have equal success/failure without them. If we are to lose to them in conference, why not take our chances becoming successful elsewhere out from under the thumb of mack and stoops?

Its a sad day for some here, yet others are elated we continue to maintain the rivalry. I have other opinons. I was a supporter of the pac10 expansion, prior to learning that people out east would consider us. Afterall, it certainly had many advantages regardless of our perceived life expectancy.

A gamble was made and we showed some stones, only to retract the threat. That's what saddens me the most. Don't be misled that texas "saved" the big12 and did us a favor. They simply got a tv show and in the end, with them its all about the money. I hope one day we can try again, possibly in the next 5 years when I predict this happens again.

While your sympathy is appreciated, I certainly would rather you join in the disgust for all things austin. They deserve the title that espn is desperately trying to avoid. That title is garbage. Holding a conference hostage to obtain tv progamming is a douche move imo. That's what this was about. It turned when we bucked up.

I have been reminded why I despise the forty acres. Maybe some of you will too.

Thanks and gig em. Tuck fexas. Always. Forever.

Yeah I called in the sports show today and said I wanted you guys in our conference. I felt that College Staion would be a great place for a game and wanted to experience the 12th man in an SEC game. All you said and my hopes were ripped because Texas is scared of stepping to real competition.

You were remarkably close to calling the whole "A&M to SEC" blockbuster well before anyone else was considering the possibility.

And your school stands to make a ton of money from this new deal, so that's a plus.

But, ultimately, your ***** ass just got played by Texas... and we never wanted Aggy to begin with! SEC! SEC! SEC!

Well said. I've always liked aTm and all of its unique football traditions. If you'd joined the SEC, you would've become my second favorite SEC school (as it is right now, I don't really have a second favorite after the Vols). Since you're stuck with Texas, I'll be content to continue cheering for you every Thanksgiving weekend.

I'll also add that I've always disliked Texas. Mack Brown's arrogance, the benching of Major Applewhite for Chris Simms, Vince Young, etc. You can now add this fiasco to that list. Their arrogance is greater than Notre Dame's, IMO. Only if they were lined up against Kiffin would I pull for them (eh, I'd probably just be neutral and cheer for a meteor to hit the stadium).

I hate this for A&M, not because they didn't come to the SEC, but because they stood up and tried to say "enough". I'll be rooting for the Aggies this year.

I think you have your board of regents to blame as much as you do Texass. They could have chosen to still seek admission into the SEC, but in the end they chose to run back to Austin.

Maybe in five or six years you'll get your wish and this time you can bring Okie with you. By then they should be tired of smelling what BEVO is dropping.

I was down in San Antonio for a wedding last November and was at a nice golf club on a Saturday afternoon for a reception thinking I could just amble into the bar and keep up with the Tennessee v. Ole Miss game. Much to my surprise there were at least three big screens tuned to a Baylor game on some network I had never heard of. This was the only game on. I guess I got my first glimpse that things were different in Texas then.

Of course I was crestfallen when I finally got the Ole Miss score but this was during a post game show late in the afternoon. It certainly was not being scrolled across the bottom of the screen.

I thought A & M would have been a good match for the SEC. I still would like to see the SEC expand westward. Not sure if Texas can keep up the pretense if OU stays competitive and we remember how the SEC has handled OU and Texas both. Now Texas is putting on the airs of academic elitism. Not all perception is media driven, some of us have been around.

Espn is doing a fantastic job allowing the Media darlings all the coverage they want after "They decided to stay."

Its funny that less than 4 days ago, they were reporting that "Texas is going to be the foundation of the new PAC16".

Its enough to make you change the channel.

I feel sorry for you guys, you got jobbed by the Big 8, 10, 9 whatever you call it now and the other UT. No way they come up with the promised TV $$. It was interesting to see another TX school show some stones and stand up to Austin, but as it turned out all A&M had was peas....

You guys are scre**d now while the other UT laughs all the way to the bank.

Im pretty thicked skinned and really hardly ever let message board bantar get me stirred up. That being said, you two douchebags trying to get a reaction out of me can simply avoid the thread entirely. My e-feelings arent gonna get hurt, but you are wasting space on here by posting senseless unwarrented drivel. Feel free to move on, or better yet, log out.
