MISTAKES ARE:

Interceptions
Fumbles
15 Yard Penalties
And dare I say it .... COACHING BLUNDERS
:thud::thud::thud::thud::thud:

If TN plays smart, we win.

It NOT, we come in second best against USU.

What do you think?

UT acquired more talent in one recruiting class than USU will have in a decade. CBJ said the culture is completely fixed. He said his system is infallible. If he can't beat inferior talent by year two then be prepared to celebrate meaningless recruiting battles. UT ought to stomp a mudhole and step it dry.

I think we win by 20. Gonna take a LOT of mistakes to erase that advantage.
It's gonna get ugly, real U.G.L.Y.:eek:

If TN makes 6 of those and USU makes 5 of those, then we should still win IMO. Hard to say this system of measurement is accurate.

I would say, "the team with the fewest major mistakes will give itself a better chance to win". But that doesn't really create enough buzz to start a thread with.

Cant agrue against a maxim....we did win the 97 SECC tho.

Yeah, I remember that game. Six turnovers and we still managed to win. However, we had a ridiculous amount of talent back then, and Auburn was no where nearly as talented as our team. We completely shut down their offense in the second half. Having Peyton Manning to lead a comeback after all of those mistakes didn't hurt either.

Although named for our beloved Coach Dooley, he didn't actually follow this rule.

Yep.

Still hard to believe tho.

*Except when playing teams from North Carolina in consolation bowl games, then the Dooleyism is reversed and a team with more players on the field will win.

The four you list are just scratching the surface on errors. There are serious line play errors that allow sacks. There are serious receiver errors, QB & RB errors, ... most so subtle that we can't recognize them from our seats in the stadium. They happen every play and every position makes them. Lose your focus for a moment and that weak side linebacker's gonna fly by you and knock the QB flat.

100% correct...

Also, dynamic plays by dynamic players (North's SCe catch last season) offset mistakes.

The equation is;

# dynamic plays minus mistake plays = winner

Bleacher Report has us losing 30-27 due to Keetons agility on the edges. Something about our secondary not tackling, DB's not getting off blocks and our young DL getting man handled.

Personally, I prefer being the underdogs. They'll come out with confidence, they'll get hit in the mouth for a fumble. We get the ball and Lane breaks the edge because our receivers can actually block. We get to the 10, Croom crossing, like an eclipse, Worley releases, TD Tennessee! Give. Him. Six!

Back to reality, it's going to be a good game, our talent and conditioning carry us to a 35-17 victory. I'll be cheering from California.

-ramble complete.
