Thanks for the link. Good reading material. After looking at where some of the recruits are from you never hardly see a good from upper east tn. I know we have pulled a couple guys here and there in the past but there is never consistent perennial schools that produce talent. You would think that as big a school is like Science Hill or Dobyns Bennett they would have some studs playing. I dunno it baffles the hell out of me.

Gerald Sensabaugh played for D-B about 8 years ago and no one outside the Tri-Cities thought much of him. He ended up being an NFL starter and setting a combine record for vertical leap. His cousin is the current running back and he'll end up playing RB or LB for a big time school. Also, there's a senior WR named Ashlon Adams that I think could contribute somewhere.

Jason Witten?

But really the tri-cities has been consumed by soccer, its sad.

we played high school football together. I thought that was an obvious exemption to my prior post. Gaines played for the vols too and i think he played in the nfl. But really we have highschool football in east tennessee but very rarely is there a 4* recruit or better.

Science Hill Football hasn't been much to talk about during the past decade. During two of the years I was a student there, they compiled a 1-19 record. Most of Science Hills prominent athletes focus on Basketball, where they consistantly compete for state titels, or transfer to Dobyns-Bennett to play football, like Ashlon Adams. Science Hill finished 7-4 this season and made a playoff appearance, but the jury is still out if they can become a program that can consistantly compete with a school like D-B.

Gaines was drafted to the NFL and then went to NFL Europe. I think his team won the championship. Chris Henry was a really good wide receiver for MTSU, Patrick Ghee started for the Wake Forest team that won the ACC and is still cashing an NFL check. I have no idea what sort of star rating any of those guys had. Teddy Gaines was probably rated OK because he was really fast.

Northeast Tennessee currently has 4 Active NFL players:
Jason Witten - Cowboys, Elizabethton (Tennessee)
Gerald Sensabaugh - Jaguars, Dobyns-Bennett (North Carolina)
Aubrayo Franklin - 49ers, Science Hill (Tennessee)
Vince Redd - Patriots, Elizabethton (Liberty Univ.)

Patrick Ghee from D-B was a free agent who made it thru training camp to the final 54 man roster cut with the Redskins this year and may have a chance to be picked up next year. Thru the years Dobyns-Bennett has produced 6 NFL players (plus 5 other draft picks), Elizabethon 2 NFL players ( also Shawn Witten was in a couple NFL camps as a FA), North Greene 1 NFL player, Science Hill 4 NFL Players (plus 3 other draft picks) and Tennessee High has produced 1 NFL draft pick, could be others, these are just the ones I'm aware of.

My bad, it wasn't North Greene, it's South Greene, South Greene alum Mike Nease played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1987, played college ball at UT-Chattanooga.

Cloudland and Hampton are small Carter County schools, but they have some big ole boys that they produce. Cloudland is usually pretty decent, and Hampton has been pretty good lately.
