Well, I'm here to tell you, that Bama has a lot more talent than Prothro. All UT has to do is stuff Darby, and get after Brodie....ha!

First, you aren't going to be able to stuff Darby, and you won't stop Brodie unless he doesn't play. Bama's deepest position is receiver, with Keith Brown 4.5, DJ Hall 4.4, Matt Caddell 4.4, and Ezekiel Knight 4.6 still left to play. Bama's offensive line has been doing quite well lately. Despite being freshmen, they dominated UF. Blew them off the ball. The offensively line has only been healthy for 2 weeks. They have had more than one injured player out all year, until Arkansas.

UT's offense will need to run to win against Bama. Your passing game will be shut down, for the most part. Can UT run against the Bama defense? Perhaps some, yes, but enough to win? I really don't see it.

If UT is going to beat Bama, it will take either injury, or blocked kicks, or key penalties, or fumbles, or key interceptions. It's not going to happen by whipping Bama either on offense or defense.

Add to that the fact that the game is in Tuscaloosa, and it becomes a bit more difficult. Clausen needs to improve his game, so your running game can be more effective against Bama.

There is no real coaching advantage to UT this time around. Shula and staff are doing quite well.

I'm not saying that Bama will blow UT out, but I would favor Bama based on what I have seen so far. In two weeks, Bama plays Ole Miss, so Bama has two weeks, basically, to adjust to life without Prothro.

I've been a Bama fan all of my life, and I will tell you that something special is going on in Tuscaloosa now. After being down for so long, the Tide is once again back to a good form. Bama's team is flying around like crazy. I have never seen a defense as fast as what Bama has now.

If UT is going to win, they must be able to move the ball offensively. Ricks will have to be able to run the ball. UT will have to be able to line up, jaw to jaw, and blow Bama's defense back. If, and only if, they can do that, will they have a chance to win.

As always, I appreciate you guys and your great team. Year after year, the Bama/UT game is always, despite the long winning streaks that both of our teams have had against one another, a great game, full of electricity, and this year will be no exception. Hopefully both teams can be healthy.

Best wishes against UGA. I live in Georgia, can't stand the Dawgs. Please beat em'.

This is so funny! The Breck Girl (coach Shula) FINALLY gets a win against a hurt Gator team and look out! I love it. Yeah, you guys are awsome! I think you really blew the hogs out, or MTSU or how about the way you man handled South. Miss.
I cannot wait to beat the "Rusty Shackelford" Nation yet again. And doing it in Tuscalooser is just icing on the cake.
Your pillow fighting O line will finally face a real D line. I think Ole Brodie will have a long day. And Ken doll Darby will not run on us. No one has. Check it, the BEST rush D in the SEC! Get ready for it bammer. Because the BIG ORANGE whoopin is coming and there is nothing your team can do but take it!

Have you even watched a UT game this year? Even considering the lackluster offensive start, have you looked at the defense? Even considering our loss to UF, and the LSU game (with its offensive "gift" points), I would put this defense up against ANYONE. Saturday was your wad and you shot it.

This is the bama that allowed 21 against Southern Miss, right? The one that struggled against Ark, right?

You need to worry about Mississippi, or Bama will be a bigger joke come Monday.

Yeah, hopefully this Ricks guy can come in and run for a ton of yardage. Maybe that's why the offense has been sluggish....Ricks :dunno: has not played yet.

Let's see how Bama fairs after playing Tennessee, LSU, and Auburn. Its still a long season and way too early to start crowing so much.

tide. do you really think bama can just come out and play good and beat us. you guys will have to play great to beat us. not just the other way around. it should be a great game. either way, the winner will need a great game. especially in rivalries, anything can happen.

I think the tide matched up well against Florida's offense. they definitley saw some weakness in their d when tenn chose to run the ball.

Was there more to read? After I saw this I realized you know NOTHING about football, or at least haven't seen the Vols play this year...

I'm glad Coach Shula finally got that "big win"... you guys were calling for his head not too long ago "can't beat TN, can't beat Cow College, FIRE HIM!" Well he still hasn't beaten either of those schools, but I'm glad he has your approval now.

I for one NEVER called for Shula's head. You cant even begin to fathom the adversity that Shula stepped into as Bama's head coach. All of our talent is being utilized accordingly unlike what is going in in Knoxville. Dont get me wrong here, i hate Ut as much as the next man, but it makes me sick to my stomache to see so much talent go to waste up on the hill. What is the coaching staff afraid of? I wanna see Ut run it wide open!! The talent is bursting at the seams up there man. Ut has to be the most boring top ten team in the country to watch.

Maybe you should think before you type... I can't fathom the adversity he's faced? You think that's because I'm in a little bubble here in Knoxville and know nothing about 'bama football? OOPS! I've spent 5 of the last 10 semesters in Birmingham working a co-op, two football seasons of being there instead of Knoxville. I know all about what coach Shula has done, and all the rhetoric that goes on in Alabama. You're kidding yourself if you don't think the overwhelming majority of Tide fans have been ready to fire him for the past year.

Bama's OL better be ready for UT's front because there's no one playing better than them this season. I think Darby will need to do too much on his own for the bama running game to get going. bama doesn't break 100 yds rushing.

12, I agree with wanting to see the UT offense wide open. If let loose, the play-makers we have could do some damage.

Tell me this though: If Shula loses to 2 of 3 vs. LSU/UT/Auburn, is he still thought of so highly? Not to knock him too much but UF was the first game that bama wasn't supposed to win. (Thanks for that too!) I think losses to UT and the barn could cause some rumblings in bammerland.

I'll have more, but it's time to think about beating the puppies this week!

I for one, knew this would be a long trip, and i buckled in. I said "I" never called for his head. He came in and brought a new staff and offense with him. The majority of Tide fans call for anyones head because of the expectations of being a part of Alabama football. Look how irrational the fans at Ole Miss are acting right now. Coach O is playing with players that he didnt recruit and the people there expect a "Manning" year. I am very proud of Shula, the game against Arkansas is a game two years ago we would have lost as with the comeback against Southern Miss. That too, was a sure loss two years ago. He is going to be a great coach at Bama and i am proud of him.

To reiterate what pj said... I think... I think Shula has gotten a bad rap until this last week. He's a good coach, but could very well lose those three games. Although I'm doubtful of the 'barn...

I agree that the win against UF set some high expectations. If we lose 3 of 3, i am still proud of what he has done this year. I dont think we will lose 2 of 3 though. Ut's d front is nasty, no arguing there, but we will be ready. This game means alot to us, as did the Florida game. Emotions will run high and Shula will unleash a monster on offense against Ut. Brodie will eat the secondary alive, and our O line will have to step up to a high they have never seen before. We WILL be ready. Our D isnt exactly chopped liver either btw.

You're crazy if you think either team will score alot of points.

IMO, this will be a defensive affair, just like last year. Our offense is not very good, and your d is. On the other side, our d is playing very well, and you offense, while looking good at times, is not the juggernaut some seem to think. Just like this week against UGA, the winner will not score more than 20 points.

Just IMO.

I know you guys have high expectations of players like DJ Hall, but I heard that from my buddy over the summer... during the UF debacle (for them anyway) I still saw Prothro as the only playmaker in the passing game.

Dang, its too early to be talking about the 'bama game! LOL
