Could the future leader of the Vols emerge in this week’s showdown with the hated Florida Gators? I think so.

With two equal freshman Quarterbacks going into the biggest game so far this year, a breakout or breakdown performance could end the debate early. In recent past QB debates have ended with one bad game or play.

Priority one will be to run the ball and run it well, but priority two will be to hurt them long. With a questionable secondary, a big play is on the verge and so is a star. A big game from either Quarterback could solidify a starting role.

When the pressure is on the stars come to play. Who will come to play on Saturday?

Well if Ainge out shines Schaeffer then we will probably loose Schaeffer.I'd hate to see that happen.I just don't see him sticking around if he's not a starter.

Sorry, but I do not see any reason to rush into which kid is the starter. Both have lots to offer the Vols. Both are class act young men. I'll be perfectly satisfied if these guys graduate as co-#1 QBs. The team and particularly the OL seem to have latched on to this idea already. I wish them both the best as 4 year co-#1 QBs at UT.

I don't think anyone will officially "emerge" this week with the HORRIBLE weather we will most likely be playing in. Hard to make a decision like that when outside factors are affecting performance.

And yes I realize a good quarterback has to be able to play in the rain as well. I just don't think it's wise to make the decision based on playing UNLV then florida in crappy weather. Neither's full potential or lack of will be displayed for a couple more weeks.

I am still on board the 2QB system anyway so I hope neither emerges period as of now.

I agree, I don't think they should make a decision on two games. I also don't mind 2 QB's for a year or 4 years but if one has a lights out game I think that will happen.

All I'm saying is that if it comes down to Ainge beating out Schaeffer later on in the season,Schaeffer will probably leave. He wants to be a starter.I hope we can keep both of these young QB's in our line-up.

Whatever happens, it's a great problem to have. Let one of them rise to the top and then put the redshirt on Crompton next year and we'll be set at QB for the forseeable future.

What he said. I'd like to have both of those guys for all 4 years, based on what I've seen and read about them so far.

I sure hope Crompton doesn't change his mind like Leak did!

Leak changed his mind to getback at Coach Fulmer for pulling his brother out of the 02" GA game. But I'm with you, I sure hope Crompton dosen't change his mind either (like a certain Chris Simms did).

I hope Crompton is in for the long haul. I think he knows one of them will transfer, and he can come in here and compete.
