When I pointed out awhile back our lack of a true (300+ lbs) nose tackle, someone thought to correct me saying that in our 4-3 and 4-2-5 defense, we don't use a nose tackle.

All I know is Danny O'Brien is listed as nose tackle and when I took note of how O'Brien lined up last night he was in a four point stance over the center. With a tackle for a loss early, Danny served notice that he is not just another undersized nose tackle, but typical of the position, you didn't hear his name called much.

While watching the game last night, I did hone in on O'Brien on quite a few plays. Utah State tried to push him around, but O'Brien looked as strong as a 320 pounder. He fought off or held his own against everything Utah State threw at him and they really didn't run anything at him after the first quarter from what I saw.

It remains to be seen what happens when the middle of our defensive line comes up against power conference offensive lines averaging averaging 310-315 lbs, but last night Danny O'Brien was the toughest player on the team IMO.

A.J. Johnson if we're talking about toughest player on the team. Have you seen how hard he arm bashes when celebrating after a big play? You have to be strong just to hang out with this guy or else he will unintentionally crush you. Plus dreads give him like +5 toughness. But seriously O'Brien looked good out there. USU can only test your line so much. The real test comes vs Oklahoma on Sept 13th.

Matt Darr - he walked off after his toes touched his calf. That kids tough

Really? He came down and his ankle twisted a full 90 degrees. Go watch the replay. Know what you are saying before take digs at your own players in a thread that was supposed to be positive.

Reading comprehension is not your strong point. I was saying Darr was the toughest on the team. You should read then re-read again before replying for now on and taking a dig at someone. How he walked off after that is crazy. Btw, I watched the game, the replay, and listed to Joe squirm while watching it. Get it together bro

Haha. Sorry man. Seriously... I totally misread your post. I just woke up from an afternoon snooze in my recliner and my head isn't fully functional yet. My mistake.

Mentally....has to be Worley. He has put up with NegaVols for years. He has been earmarked as a failure since he was thrown in a difficult situation early on. He has met all challenges and kept his head on straight! I hope the best for him....always been a supporter.

Brendan Downs. Played on one leg 2 years in a row. Limped on and off the field. Had knee repaired after last season. Glad to see him have a TD catch last night. Kid deserves it.

Totally uncalled for.

I agree with that. Worley had no mental lapses... at least no costly ones.
