Which universities have the potential to win it all in what I consider the three major college sports: football, men's basketball and women's basketball? Maybe others would consider baseball a major college sport, but I am not a baseball fan and do not know about TV coverage or how college baseball feeds players to MLB. It does not seem to be as big as the other three, but correct me if I am wrong.

UT seems to have as much potential as anyone to win all three in one year. The Lady Vols won the NCAA tourney in 1998 right before our football team bagged the NC. I was praying the men could do the unthinkable, but alas it was not to be. The football team is historically a major power, recent years being the exception. The Lady Vols are always dominant. The men's b-ball team has struggled recently, but they have enough history that it is not crazy to think that they could put together a championship season if a few pieces fell into place.

I am feeling pretty good about the Butch Jones hire and Holly Warlick looks like she might have the (very young) Lady Vols primed for a solid run this season and perhaps a few seasons to come. Maybe...just maybe...the football team and the men's basketball team could reach the top within the next four-six years. I know it is crazy, but isn't that what we all would love to see? :dance2:

Anyway, my question is, what other teams are have as much potential as we do to pulling off such a feat? Some unis regularly get close to the promised land in two sports but rarely all three: Connecticut, Florida, Notre Dame, USC come to mind.

Stanford is the only team I can think of that threatens regularly in all four sports, meaning baseball included. Amazing that they are an academic institution first and foremost, isn't it?

So, who do you think could do it?

Not being discriminatory here, but Women's basketball in the big 3 ? over The College World Series ? I don't think so.
. Id almmost bet the house the ladies final four gets more attention than college world series. Just saying. I have never seen a college baseball opening for sportscenter

I'd bet that tv ratings would disagree with you.

I've watched plenty of CWS but never more than a minute of women's college BB... It's just plain awful, except when UT and Connecticut play each other. Well maybe Baylor lately...

At least with college baseball, you expect a slow game on offense. When I watch BB, I want to see players score...

Just my opinion of course...

Highly questionable about placing women's basketball in top three but even if that was conceded, the likelihood of us winning all three would be along the lines of hitting the powerball....twice.

Women's basketball definitely gets more viewers than college baseball. I'd venture as far to say that lacrosse gets more air time than college baseball.
