The typical responses to VN posts

Have you ever noticed that there are some common and typical responses that always show up on this board? After the OP posts his Viewpoint X, here is what we will immediately see:

1. Affirmers will say "I agree." etc.
2. Some people will offer a reasonable counterpoint
3. Contrarians will always take the opposite view and give a point by point rebuttal
4. Jokesters will try to be funny and post some off-topic quip or snarky remark
5. Policers will tell you why the comments shouldn't be on VN
6. Somebody will say "I don't care about Viewpoint X as long we win games!"
7. Skeptics will tell us how wise they are because they are reserving judgment until they see it on the field

I am sure there are other typical responses that I am not thinking of. What else do we often see in our highly ritualized community?

Guess what, the real world is just about like VN with all of their retorts. The world & US is divided as is VN. There are people that make a great living off of stoking the fire and trolls here and other team fans trying to divide.
It's as they say the "new Normal".

I see you subscribe to the Unabridged version of Merrian-Webster. I see that phenomenon frequently but never knew the term for it.

Soooo.. What's supposed to happen on a message board when someone posts a question or statement? Nobody is allowed to comment? I'm not sure I see the purpose of your post.
