The USA Flag

Knew it was a matter of time before this got posted.

It was dumb of the local Dem party to have put that up there. And to their credit they took it down when asked. The reaction to it has been a bit over the top, however.

You are on the right track...but that was beyond dumb, and they shouldn't get any credit for taking it down. I personally wish they would leave it up. That would be a game changer.

Nah. The people actually offended enough to even really care about this were never going to vote for Obama.

Pretty funny, actually. As long as they didn't replace the actual flag with that one and that flag is below the American flag, then fine by me.

I don't know...I think that a free thinking independent would see that a stunt like that is empty and mindless.

I can prove my point.

1) Obama didn't make the flag or ask them to put it up.

2) People who want to ascribe that to him simply wish it were true. It isn't. But they don't care about that fact since it is about fanning the flames of fake controversy, not facts.

3) People who don't care about that fact wouldn't vote for Obama.

Therefore: People who would blame Obama for this flag issue were never going to vote for him, anyway.

I can prove my point as well. If there was any political advantage to leaving it up...it would still be flying.

The article indicates they took it down based on concerns of citizens AND that it may be defacing. The chairwoman indicated she may put it back up after consulting her attorney.

Not sure that is "credit worthy".

Overall it's no big deal but it fits the "Dear Leader" meme.

We'll see some fake outrage from people who would never vote for Obama or a democrat for that matter.
It was ignorant of them though.

My pov as a christian: Many people resort to flag-worship and that is essentially idolatry. If what someone does to an inanimate object that you do not own, and is not owned by someone who objects to the action, bothers you, then you seem to be placing way too much emotional attachment to a mere object. Borderline idolatry as far as I am concerned.

My pov as a libertarian: As long as it is their materials being used and no one else is being forced to go along with it, then they are well within their rights to do it and objections are pointless.

My pov from philosophy: The flag is the symbol of the state and nothing about the state should ever be venerated.

I hear people gripe about this kind of thing or about flag burning or whatever. You hear statements like: people died for that flag. Whatever. If you died for a piece of cloth then your death was meaningless. If you died for the people that you love or live with, then your death had some nobility and meaning.

Credit? It will benefit this world if you choose not to reproduce.

The BHO flag is so like the 1930s cult of personality
that led to tragedy in Germany.

Oddly, the BHO worshipers seem oblivious to reality.
