After seeing this fiasco last night between #3 (hello) and #5 (i don't think so) I don't see how the rational mind can come to terms with these Big Least teams fitting in the BCS picture like they do. Instead of having 5 teams in the top 13 we should have 5 teams in the top 11 (10 if we bump usc and maybe put Notre Dame right where they belong - by Boston College)

All SEC teams should be. How can Auburn be ahead of my Hogs. We smoked'em, @ their place. They barely won this week against Ole Miss, we blew them out 38-3. WTh? Yall should be higher too, you beat Cal!

i don't think it will matter too much if we lose either of the next two games....let's just see how it all works out. Aub still has games agains UGA and Bama, and a possilbe SEC CG game. FL still has games against SC, FSU and likely and SEC Championship game. ARK still has TN, SC and LSU, and a possible SEC championship game.

I have a feeling with the way things are shaping up, there could only be one team with 1 loss in the SEC when it's all said and done...and none of this will matter. 4 weeks of football with all these 1 loss teams left....the number of 1 loss teams will get reduced each week, especially when there are so many matchups between these 1 loss teams.

and personally, if L'ville wins out, i have no problem with them playing for NT. they'll get killed by Mich or OSU, but they should play for it. they did beat the #3 team in the nation, and they have another undefeated team coming also ranked in the top 15.

Personally, I think that the most overrated team in the nation is OSU. They beat 1 team that is no better than WVU or UL-that is a very mediocre texas team that is only ranked as high as they are b/c of last season. I think that IF UL pulls off an undefeated season, let them play the winner of the little ten. I would LOVE to drop KY and Vandy and pick up WVU and UL. That would be a power conf. I am pretty sure that UL/WVU this year would be in the top tear teams in the SEC.

i agree with you about WVU and L'ville...they're both good...though they both made enough mistakes last night to make you wonder how good are they really???

but OSU is really good...i have to disagree there. it'd be on thing if they were squeaking by winning like 13-10 etc....but they're not. they've throttled every team they've played thus far, including a "OK" iowa team on the road and a good TX team on the road. I don't think TX is just a super team this year, but they are good and they will win the Big 12...definitely a quality win.

Last night reminded me of a mid-90s WAC shootout. Defense was pathetic on both sides. The 'Ville never shut down WV, just got some turnovers off fumbles that they did not do much to create.

If Louisville wins out, they'd better do something they failed to do last night - field a defense.

I value your opinion, but I just don't buy into the little ten this year. Iowa got beat by Indiana so they are not that good IMO. Texas is OSU's only quality win and they are no better than Rutgers or WVU. I agree that OSU has talent but it has not been tested. They do handle thier schedule and win hands down so I give them that. I am not saying that they are #10 or anything, just not #1. I put them #3 behind UF and Mich. But my opinion and 2 dollars will get you a 2 dollar sandwich.

The Lil' 11, aka big 10, has always been a top heavy conference with Ohio State and Michigan. Occasionally drop in a Wisconsin or Penn State.

As much as I hate to admit it, Ohio State is the real deal. I believe it is their's to lose.

but back to the title of the thread. The vols should be ranked higher. I say we are a #6. If we win this week I say we will be there in the AP and coaches poll. Who knows in the BCS, my guess would be #9.

If the media is calling the Tennessee blowout win over Cal a "fluke" then what's the difference in calling OSU's game against Texas a "fluke" too?

i haven't heard anyone call the TN/Cal game a fluke.

i've heard a lot of people say that Cal is playing much better now than they did on day 1. which is true.

I've heard people say that if TN/Cal played today, that it might not have the same result. of course i've also heard that if TN and UF played today the result might not be the same....

it changes every week...

as for TX/OSU i would not venture to say that TX is playing all that much better now than they did against OSU. TX is playing about the same, against inferior competition.

OK, I have lived in WV for many years and grew up cheering for WVU and Tenn. I have to say that this years team is one of the greatest teams in school history. With that said, I viewed last night's game as the MAC championship. Fun to watch but lacked the substance of a battle of two major powers. As far as I am concerned, the Big East is a little better than the mid major conferences. The SEC is the best conference out there and this is how the top ten should look.

1) Ohio State
2) Michigan
3) Florida
4) Tennessee
5) Auburn
6) Texas
7) Wisc.
8) Ark.
9) USC
10) Louisville

I hope you are right, and I hope it is us.

I still don't know about Louisville. There offense is very good. I don't know, however, if it is good enough to score 50 on an elite team like OSU, Mich, or even Florida. The Cards' defense is certainly capable of giving 50 up.

You take a team with a quality offense and no defense like L'ville and pit them against (insert OSU, UM, half the SEC here, et al) L'ville falls.
