The Walking Dead

All it's proven to me is they either don't have enough story to cover 16 episodes or they know they can get away with stretching the story out. Last night felt more filler than actual development.

Also for someone supposedly so hardened by the world, Carl fights like a sissy.

He can kill fairly efficiently.
Probably never had to fight without intent to kill...

A friend of mine in med school was raised in Vietnam. During the Vietnamese war, he was taught how to fight by Navy SEALs at the naval base where his father was an admiral. Until he was in rolled in a judo class once they had moved to California, he never knew any type of fighting that did not result in killing or maiming the opponent.

With that being said, my buddy did not look like a sissy when he would spar with someone :)

Here is another thing that bothered me. So kid tells Rick that he thinks he saw his son on the front porch with Judith. Rick tells kid (who's daddy was killed by Rick) to take over watch and he runs to check on Carl. I. That moment kid asks Rick to teach him how to shoot and Rick goes all stupid dog and was like sure ( ooo shiney object). Completely forgets about his son who might be chasing tail in the woods.

Rick's doing the same thing...
Kids like Rick…
Mom happy… Rick get happy time…
It's been a long time for Rick evidently since season two :)

I actually liked this episode. It wasn't an edge of the seat of one or anything but had some solid character moments. I honestly think the story needed this episode to breathe a little.

Gotta say Aaron is a cool dude. He manned up and took responsibility for the Wolves attack and was willing to risk his life to help Maggie.

only really solid character moment was from Aron, and for the reasons you stated. Deanna going psycho on that walker was alright too i guess.

everything else was pretty bad, dumb, and pointless.

the story got it's breather last week. it didn't need two back to back.

What was with Maggie refusing to fight the zombie? Just depressed over Glenn possibly being dead?

BTW, I rewatched the bloody wall scene. There is definitely a hole in the wall where the blood is coming through.

i might be mistaken, but i believe she was trying to push the walker off of her, but the walker was so mushy that her arms went completely through it/out it's back, and thus caused her problems in trying to deal with the walker since she couldn't really use her arms.

just looked up pic of scene, and she's clearly pinned against the wall, one hand on walker's shoulder and the other hand/arm goes through walker body. just a difficult position to do anything without it biting a chunk out of ya.

those sewer walkers were sweet as hell honestly. best part of the episode.

I thought there was some good moments with the Alexandrians coming to terms with what just happened. Sure most of them are just fodder for future episodes but it didn't hurt show them attempting to raid the pantry or Jessie taking out one of her own with the little speech to the others.

I'm not putting this up there with the great episodes of the series or anything. I guess 'breather' wasn't the best term coming off the Morgan episode. The characters needed a second to regroup at Alexandria. If the walkers had just plowed through the wall that would be it for the community.

Enjoyed the dialogue in this episode and the sewer walkers were really cool. I know they're trying to let the Glenn story-line breathe a bit, but it's time to address it next episode....

Going by the previews, not going to happen. It looks like it's mostly going to be all about Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham and what they're going through.

After that there is only 2 episodes left, and I'd bet money the episode after will be everyone is back at Alexandria except Glenn and we still don't know the fate of Glenn, and they repeat the Sophie crap and we find out in the midseason finale, which will probably be 90 minutes again.

I have to admit the dragging out of Glenn is very Sophia-esque. He better be alive if they plan on dragging it out until the mid-season finally.

In a way they're now in a bit of no win situation.

If Glenn is alive, then you'll have many fans rolling their eyes at how he survived that. Even if is something like Jesus comes in and saves him, him getting out of that without being at least bitten is really hard to swallow even by WD standards.

If Glenn is dead, then you'll have many (probably many more) fans pissed that they made us wait 3-4 episodes to even find out and complain it's a copy of the Sophie situation.

Having said that, I think the backlash will be worse if Glenn ends up dead.

Would much rather Glenn just be dead. that won't be the case though.

Either way though, the writers are aholes for dragging all this manipulative "is he, isn't he"
BS, especially for a scene where his chances of survival were 0%.

If Glenn shows up zombiefied that's not only Sophie but we've also had Daryl have to take down Zombie Merle. I realize the impact of having "one of yours become one of them" but you really have to be careful in it's use.

I think the problem they have is they obviously wanted the fans to really believe Glenn could be dead, but they went too far in the position they put him in.

If he is going to live, it would have been better if Nicholas shot himself and left Glenn on top of the dumpster alone. He would still be in a very bad position but at least it would have been more believable that someone could have come and saved him. But that's the problem I guess, it would have been obvious that Glenn wasn't going to die there and the "tension" wouldn't be as much.

The way they did it though, was stupid for many reasons, and it's going to end up being another "van" moment where they end up looking even dumber for asking us to believe it.

agreed on everything.

also, it's not even completely the position they put Glenn in that annoys me, but just how they shot the scene. Play dramatic music as we see Glenn's face display pained and/or shocked and/or afraid, screaming in pain or anguish, everything slightly somewhat slow motioned...and PSYCH! he was alive the whole time.

add that with the ridiculous (we'll call them "Van" type) errors, and survivable scenario, it's just lazy, manipulative, drivel that I found to have little tension at all.

Nothing they've done is a stupid as the Van non-flip. I'm able took look past a lot of stupid on a show about zombies but that took me out of the episode for a moment.

I'll be ok if Glenn survives the situation as long as they show exactly how it happens. I was able to accept his escape in last years finale off camera but this one needs to be explained.
