Found this video of a Spitfire Mk IX and a P-51D doing a joint aerial display. Watch the two Allied thoroughbreds from WWII go through their paces and revel in the War Song of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.

Legendary British test pilot Eric Brown (who started his career in biplanes and ended it landing an F-4 Phantom on the Royal Navy carrier Ark Royal) stated that having flown both these types extensively he couldn't really choose which one was better but in a fight to the death would go with the Spit simply because he was more familiar with it.

That's pretty cool. I haven't been to an air show since I was a little guy, they were fun.
