is now officially the captain of a sinking ship. By the time USC comes off probation, Kiffin will be unemployed. And, similarly to Mike Shula, will never be trusted with another program.

Isn't it interesting that the most "positive" parts of the Kiffin resume (which most here used as ammo to defend his coaching abilities) have now been "vacated"? You gotta love it!!

Kiffin is poison.....and we should all be grateful that we only had to suffer one year under him.

That is because of the power of USC. He sounded so silly saying that.

I try not to enjoy the suffering of others too much but it sure looks like someone just reached up and grabbed those raisin sized nads of his...
Not me. I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight knowing the world of s*** he's in. I love it.

If you watch PC's reaction to the sanctions he says, "I was unaware that they had any facts that supported these significant sanctions." Seems pretty obvious he was trying to weasel out of it, but then he goes on to say that they didn't know..

Yeah, okay.

Am I the only one who thinks this will benefit him? I think he will use this as excuse if he fails. If he wins he looks like a god. He is now in a win/win situation.

I don't see it this way. He might win the first couple of years, of course they don't get to go bowling. Then, you will see them go down hill quick. No way you can lose 30 scholarships and continue to dominate. Miami couldn't do it, and they were more of a powerhouse than USC has been lately. They didn't even win the pac 10 last year. It will take USC 3 or 4 years to bounce back after the program hits rock bottom. Over all you are looking at 6-7 years maybe 8, and I don't see Kiffin staying there that long and struggling even if he does have an excuse. As far as him winning despite the sanctions, I don't see it. He might be able to recruit, but when you can only bring in 10 - 15 players a year over 3 years, you are going to be so low on scholarship players and you are going to struggle against other teams with lots of depth.

Bowl banning doesn't do alot...just ask Alabama. Didn't take them very long to rebound.

Alabama lost 21 scholarships, USC lost 30. Shula also lost his job during all that. Saban came in as Bama came off their 5 year probation. Bama had a 4-9, 6-6 and 6-7 season during those years while on probation. USC will feel the effects, it will just take a couple of years. They might survive better than teams in the past assuming they don't get in trouble again while on probation because of their last few recruiting classes, but it will effect them, IMO.

You've got to be feeling pretty good about now don't you...

I love that when he does come off the bowl ban he'll still have to get past Texas and Oklahoma most likely to get to a BCS bowl...

The cakewalk he thought he had to national prominance is now officially gone...

Yesterday had to be the worst day in the life of Lane Kiffin

Probably no one is breathing a bigger sigh of relief than Hamilton. MH correctly noted that LK wasn't a cultural fit, but as he reflects on Kiff, he probably is very grateful that the scum fled the ship. UT would have been in deep dodo, to quote GB I, had LK stayed and pursued the USC approach to success.

Yes, you probably are. He will use his failure as an excuse, but will continue to spin it his way. Your reasoning is flawed.
