... and crushed the Gators 36-7.

What does this have to do with UT? Well, only that once the game was well in hand they turned their backup QB loose to play.

Rick Clausen has been to the Swamp. He knows the feeling of winning there. You think maybe playing in a 29-point blowout may take the mistique out of the lizard tank?

I think RC is ready to play anywhere. I'm just wondering if the gators can take all the pineapple punch that Mahelona is gonna be pouring down their throats, I got a feeling that Jessie will have a break out game Sat.

Actually, it has nothing to do with UT. Rick Clausen was 3rd string at the time (as he always was at LSU). Saban left Mauck in too long in that game, and he eventually injured himself for the season while trying to scramble to the endzone while up by 29 points with a little over 5 minutes remaining. Marcus Randall came in and finished off the game. The only time Clausen played at LSU was during the Ole Miss game that season that he started and was quickly pulled for Randall. Sorry to ruin your theory. :(

Yeah, I wasn't exactly sure how to tell someone they were totally off without just saying it. Hence, why I apologized at the end of the post. I have nothing against Clausen and I am glad he found a place where he can see the field. Anyway, I hope the Vols pull it out against the gators. I want a Top 5 matchup next weekend...when LSU wins in Tiger Stadium. Good Luck.

Perhaps I shouldn't believe what I read then.

"Clausen's only other appearance at Florida was in 2002 as a redshirt freshman at LSU and he played briefly at the end of the Tigers' 36-7 victory."

So you believe some sportswriter in Gainesville actually remembers the end of a game in which his Gators were trailing by 29 late in the 4th Quarter. He is right, He shouldn't believe what he read. I watched all of that game, and Rick Clausen did not play. I attached a link from the LSU sports site with the stats from that game. Scroll down to Player Participation where you will not find his name listed. Would you like me to take that same foot and insert into your mouth? I wasn't trying to flame or be a jerk about it earlier, just stating the truth. By the way, there was no link to any source cited in the original post so how was I supposed to know where his info came from.

Dude, chill.

I was not personally attacking you. I listed my source so you could at least know I wasn't daydreaming. Apparently USAF liked the link. But rarely do we let posts here in God's-Country Volnation resort to threats. ;)

Seriously, welcome to the board. We look forward to next week, and respect your competition.

(Don't take things so seriously.)

He liked the link because he thought you were rubbing it in my face, at least that is what I got from his post. I wasn't threatening him with the foot in mouth comment either. I was just saying before he tells me to insert my foot in his mouth, he needs to make sure that he isn't sticking it in his own mouth. Anyway, I understood where you were coming from with your post and knew you weren't attacking me. Thanks for giving the source, I'll have to e-mail that guy and let him know his info is wrong. Thanks and Good Luck on Saturday. I will be a Vol fan, at least for that day. :D

FYI - the player participation does not list Matt Mauck either, yet he was the starter at QB?

Anyways, whether Clausen handed off on the field or was just dressed out on the sideline, he knows what its like to be on the winning end of a game at Florida.

It should be noted that no player on the Vols current roster has lost a game at Florida.
