1) National TV: Exposure on a National network, even if we have to listen to Vergne and Danielson. Feels good to be in the spotlight.
2)Igniting a fan base: A win over the Dawgs will unite our fan base and will perhaps help us see the progress we are making under Butch. Hard to see the progress amidst the losses sometimes.
3)Recruiting: A win could perhaps help swing a couple kids who are on the fence between the Vols, Dawgs and others and give us an advantage in building on our already solid class. Not to mention help keep some of the verbals come NSD.
4)Confidence builder for Worley and Co. A big performance from JW could help spark some confidence into our young receiving core and help get him in the right frame of mind heading into the October and November stretch.
5)It's Georgia: Plain and simple. I know they are not on par in terms of rivalry implications such as Florida or Bammer, but a win over the no. 6 Bulldogs will still be sweet nonetheless.
That is my perspective heading into this game Saturday afternoon. I know I picked the Dawgs 35-24 for gift-card winning purposes, but I just put on my orange shades and I'm picking the Vols 31-24. So get ready Butches!! The day is coming. An overconfident ( hopefully) Dawgs team against our beloved Vols, who so desperately need this win for our program. I look forward to celebrating with you all about 7:30 on Saturday evening. Go Vols!! Eerily reminiscent to 2004 in my opinion. Flame away!!
