Theisman says Tebow should Retire

Theismann is an idiot.

Tebow does need someone in his ear telling him to play multiple positions at his pro day. And every QB considering Florida in the future better watch Tebow's journey closely.

I'm not sure what Tim Tebow's journey has to do with future HS QBs looking at UF as an option.

Tebow's limited skill set as a pro-style QB has no bearing on how well John Brantley, Trey Burton or any future QB prospects fare at UF or at the next level.

Look at Meyer's track record for QBs. Alex Smith has been in the league for 5 yrs and has finally gotten to the point of mediocre but isn't a consistent starter. Leak wasn't even drafted and now Tebow's only shot is to be a H-Back or Wildcat guy. It's pretty obvious that Meyer can win but he is not developing QBs to play at the next level.

Urban Meyer's job is not to develop players for the NFL. His job is to win football games.

There aren't 15 kids across the country playing at a D-1 schools simply to win. They want NFL development. Generally, the wins will come with that.

The first coach that comes out and says the nonsense you posted just held his last press conference. Kids want in the NFL. College is generally seen as a 4 (hopefully 3) year path to that goal.

Agree 100%.

Apparently Nick Saban has done a horrible job of preparing his QBs for the next level also. I'm sure the Bama fans are beyond pissed about this.

What you're saying is nonsense.

Urban Meyer does not get a bonus from UF for developing a first-round NFL draft picks at QB. He's paid to win games and championships. Period.

You just said it. Kids want the NFL development. Coaches want to win.

That makes no sense. Saban hasn't coached any Pro Bowlers but at least his QBs can take a snap under center and a seven step drop. A QB from Bama has a much better shot of making the NFL than one from UF.

If Meyer doesn't teach top level QBs how to play at the next level then they won't want to come to UF and then he won't win as many games and then you won't be so happy. It's really quite simple to understand even for a Gator.

While Urban's job is to win championships, there's a direct relationship with putting your players in the NFL and championships. Once people realize the lack of QBs and RBs from Florida making the pros, they'll consider looking elsewhere. And if your recruiting suffers...well we all know what happens.

But Saban hasn't proven he can develop players for the next level. Isn't that the argument?

If the end game is getting QBs to the NFL, Saban is also a failure using your logic. Who cares what system the kid comes from?

How about you get back with me when Florida's recruiting starts to suffer because of this. :eek:lol:

To be honest, I never understood why top prospects (who could pretty much go anywhere) want to play in a spread offense, assuming the level of coaching is the same. It simply doesn't prepare you for the NFL as well as teams that use a pro-style offense.

Yeah, those NFL rookie receivers from UF looked totally lost in Minnesota and Oakland.

Try again.

Don't care wha is said in the thread, Theesman is an idiot. This is dumber than changing the pronunciation of his name.

How does a kid retire from college football?

But Saban has put QBs in the league. Matt Mauck was drafted, John Parker Wilson is with the Falcons and Mcelroy will be drafted as a QB. If the system doesn't give you the tools to succeed at the next level then it does matter. Meyer ran into the same issue with Smith at Utah. Smith put up all world numbers but his tools were questioned. He could get away with it in the WAC but he won't be able to cover it up in the SEC. Take off the Gator glasses.

Now there's something we both agree on.

For whatever reason Moody has been in Meyer's dog house since he fumbled at the spring game two years ago.

This is what I'm saying. Pro-style runners (no matter how talented they are) just don't fit in his system. He wants guys like a Rainey or a Demps, which is why I still don't understand why guys like Mack Brown want to go to UF when they have all the potential in the world.

Again, whatever Meyer's doing is obviously working, but I've just got to wonder when his success will come to an abrupt halt.

That is true. I would think that a person would have to get paid for playing before they could retire. Of course if Tebow had played for USC then he probably could retire.
