If the speculation is true and we are down to Gundy, Strong, and Mora Jr then lets discuss the options. Personally I find it crazy how our fan base can be so ignorant and spoiled. Any of these 3 hires would be a very good hire, yes I know not a "grandslam" but certainly a good hire. Everyone got so high over Gruden and just because these coaches do not posses the same sparkle we automatically doubt their ability. It would be huge to pull Gundy or Mora Jr from their programs where there are showing success. Also, I know Strong coaches in the Big East at Louisville but he is still going to a BCS bowl game and the man wins!

Gundy: 66-35
He has consistently fielded a good team at Ok State using the scrap recruits that Oklahoma and Texas haven't taken. He wins, has produced many NFL prospects, and he takes up for his players and places the blame on himself. After all "He is a man".

Mora Jr: 9-4 1st year at UCLA, 32-24 NFL
He led UCLA to the PAC 12 championship game and won their division by beating Arizona, USC, and Nebraska who were all ranked at the time. His team's stats are good all across the board, his defense was 55th in points against.

Strong: 24-14 at Louisville, 24-15 overall
Go ahead and let me hear it, he has a sucky record in the sucky Big East, blah blah blah, I do not want to hear it. The man wins, and has led Louisville to a BCS bowl game with far less talent then what we have. You guys complain over his recruiting like he is recruiting for Alabama, hell he isn't going to have a Top 10 class but he evaluates talent well and his players are coached to their potential. Besides what does he have to sway the recruits to come to Louisville? They have no where near the facilities, budget, or prestige like we do. He is getting good talent solely because the players like him. He has SEC ties, defensive minded, and is a good coach.

Tennessee in last 5 years: 28-34
Lets face it folks, we are down. Its more like Rocky Bottom then Rocky Top. However, any of these 3 coaches will be able to come to UT and succeed. At their current programs they have no where near the facilities, recruiting budget, program tradition, or the ability to say they play in the SEC, however they are still winning. The main thing is, whoever they select as the next coach we have to support this team and the new HC. I promise you, with any of these 3 guys we will begin our trek back to the top where we belong.

***Edit: Wes Rucker has since said he was misquoted on Mora Jr and there is no interest from him. So it is now down to two with one mystery interview supposed to take place.

I know, but the point was to show that each candidate is worthy and if it is to be one of these 3 chosen then we are in good hands.

If all three want the job, then Gundy is the easy choice. In my opinion Gundy is a grandslam hire, since our program is to righteous to get the best option Petrino...

P.S. Thank God we are not getting Gruden...Avg. NFL coach and has never been a HC in college...LOL

I will be honest, I would have liked to explore getting Petrino or Tressel as well. I understand from a University stand point of why they did not look at them, but they are proven winners.

Rucker says that he never said anything about Mora, and he has about 0 interest in coming here.
Wes Rucker ‏@wesrucker247

I have consistently said from Day 1 that Mora had no interest. RT @ocerla: @wesrucker247 you sure you didnt say anything about Mora?

Rucker was miss quoted on Mora. It's down to two plus a mystery interview according to Hubbs.

Just curious what everyone thinks, but didn't want to start a thread about it. What is the most important factor to you?

HC experience
SEC ties
Recruiting ability
Defensive minded
Player's coach
Other?

Great hair? (sarcasm)

To me it is the ability of the coach to not only recruit good players but evaluate them and coach them up to their potential. Also, he has to be a players coach, the players have to want to play for their coach and respect him. The players did not like Dooley and it showed on and off the field. I think it is all bonuses that Strong has SEC ties and defensive minded.

IMO, recruiting ability. We need to upgrade our talent level, especially in the defensive secondary.

I will accept and support any of those 3 until they give me a reason... after that we should fire Hart.

Well who do you believe it is? These are just the 3 names getting a lot of buzz, but obviously Mora was misquoted has no interest supposedly. Stoops and Fisher have both withdrawn consideration and yes I know it could all be a smokescreen but these are 2 realistic hires.

Let's just hope the coaching search is over soon. Been a brutal 15 days with opinions up and down on every coach mentioned.
