I was over at a racing site and came across this

Teresa Earnhardt questioning Earnhardt Jr.'s commitment?: Dale Earnhardt Inc. team owner Teresa Earnhardt appears to be questioning stepson #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s commitment to racing in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. The story in Thursday's edition [subscription only] says Earnhardt Jr.'s contract with the team founded by his father expires after the 2007 season, but Teresa Earnhardt expressed uncertainty about his future. "Right now the ball's in his court to decided on whether he wants to be a NASCAR driver or whether he wants to be a public personality." Earnhardt Jr. "was not available for comment" on the statement, the story said.(SceneDaily.com)(12-15-2006)

some things to think about...

(let's see if i can put my thoughts together)

1. Anheuser (sp?) announced that they are no longer going to be a part of the Busch Series.
2. i have to wonder why they feel this way, especially with ESPN taking over sole rights of the series.
3. they also announced they would review their marketing plan in racing. i recall reading this. am i right?
4. knowing this, and what Teresa said, is Anheuser really thinking about getting out of racing?
5. i would have to think if Jr. jumps ship, that Bud won't go with him.

also, more points to ponder...

1. does RCR dump the 07? let's be honest, the 07 is the equivalent of the 25 at Hendrick.
2. is Harvick willing to take a back seat to Jr. if he jumps ship to RCR?
3. i have to think that Jr. in the #3 is going to be the #1 ride at RCR
4. especially if (when) Jr. takes the #3 seat.
5. who will be the sponsor? i would think that there is a company out there who would JUMP all over a Jr. in the #3 sponsorship .

again, just my thoughts, but they seem to point towards a soon to be #3 driver.

Maybe this is too simplistic....But I see this as we'll find out the answer to the age old question in power struggles over a fallen king's treasure. Which is the most credible inheritant?....his son, or the gal that slept with the king?

Nothing is for sure yet, just some good ol speculation.

I think Childress would keep the #07 car... Bowyer wasn't doing that bad near the end of the year. You'd imagine he would keep progressing. You can't have enough teams to share information and whatnot, as Roush and Hendrick have shown the last few years, and 4 cars is the new limit, so that would work out pretty well.

Some good points about Anheuser-Busch... but I can't imagine that they'd drop Jr. He's as big of a cash cow for them as he is for Tere$a.

But, if they did... how about Goodwrench coming back? Think they'd do that if RCR had an Earnhardt and a #3 car lined up?

As for the power struggle, I hope and pray it leaves Tere$a with nothing. I realize she's already got it made, for about 5 lifetimes, but I'd kill to see Jr. drop TEI and just leave her in the dust and go drive for a real team that has a clue and some simblance of leadership when it comes to motorsports.

yeah, i have no idea why Bud would drop Jr., but it sounds like, from what Anheuser is saying, that are going to get out of racing.

add to that what Teresa is saying, and you have signs that point to him leaving DEI, which i always viewed as a 2nd class team, for RCR.

Richard has said a million times that the car is there for Junior if he ever wants it.

and i don't see the 07 ever doing anything more than winning a few races here and there. i wouldn't ever expect them to be in the Chase.

Winning a few races here and there wouldn't be too bad for the 4th best car on the team. They could dissolve that team however to make the other teams stronger. That's what I don't like about what TEI is doing... they're already a second rate team as you said, and what are they doing? Spreading out their resources even more by starting the third team up again full-time for 2007.

I have no problem with Jr leaving DEI if that's what he wants to do, but I do not want to see him, or anybody else, drive the 3 car. I really wish he could just be Dale Jr, and everybody would quit trying to turn him into the second coming of his father.

Jr better watch where he's stepping! Somebody needs to set him straight. Maybe Tony (his crew chief) needs to set down with him.

It's not like Jr. was the one that came out and said, "Right now the ball is in Tere$a's court to decide whether or not she wants to be a car owner or someone that watches her company languish into mediocrity while she cashes in on her dead spouse and his son."... which would be a little more accurate than her assessment.

How do you figure that? Dale Jr. didn't say any of that, it was his money hungry step Mom......Budweiser will be with Dale Jr. whereever he goes......And let him go and drive that 3 car if he wants to......No one else deserves to drive it but if anyone should drive it, it'd be him......Jr. will come out next year and be a leggit contender for the title with or without Teresa Earnhardt

Bud is not dropping Jr. A-B is just not going to sponsor the BGN.

PS: I wish I had a good looking step-mother that was mad at me. ;)

Said it before and I will say it again.....Jr needs to get as far away from his daddy's shadow he can get if he really wants to suceed as a driver! No DEI, No Childress! Gibbs maybe?

And play second fiddle to Tony Stewart? Nope, don't see it happening, you know just as well as I do that Stewart gets the best equipment at Gibbs racing......If he went to Childress, he'd be the best driver that Childress is good.....Don't get me wrong, Harvick is a good driver and so is Burton but Jr. is going to go where he will be the star.....I wouldn't mind seeing him go to Gibbs if something happened and he left DEI, because him and Tony would be killer teammates.....But it won't happen

I have been hoping for years that Dale Jr would leave DEI. I would like to see him go to RCR or Gibbs. There is too much of a conflict going on at DEI between him and his wicked step-mother. She is one money hungry broad with $$ signs in her eyes. She is the one that better watch where she is stepping! :realmad:

I believe if she got rid of Dale Jr. she would have a red clad clan after her......Her choice though

the fans wouldn't care. they would all be able to break out their black #3 gear again.

he won't drive anywhere but DEI or RCR.
