Yeah, pulling scholarships from all our commits that aren't on your list would really help us out in future recruiting.

I think I understand what you are saying and agree to an extent.

I think Hughes may be a great risk that they took but unless you find another one like him... Just cut it short and start on next year.

You can kiss my ass. my post doesn't need a comment like that from you. It just means don't waste schollies on people that probably aren't going to see the field while they're here.

Second,
I know they all have scholarship offers. I'm not suggesting pulling anyone's offer.

Lastly,

i often wonder why I even try to start a thread about anything on these boards anymore. most of you start sounding like Florida or Bama fans. And i thought they were annoying.
I'm not even talking about bashing Fulmer or certain players/coaching staff, and I still get childish remarks.

If anyone wants to just talk football recruiting, let me know.

well volinohio, personally i really dont think ut had a chance to ever really est a great class...we can b here all nite talkin ab if and buts...but with the departure of trooper and cut and the hiring of the new o staff i really think that makes it hard to bring in the players that we wanted....i mean look at all the players weve gotten from other schools when coaching staffs changed

i think if u really give the new staff a yr under their belt then recruiting will take off on the o side.

now on the d side i have no idea wats been goin on.. i really think its just its been one of those cases when just nothing seems to fall ur way...i mean this is sort of new territory for phil and the whole staff bc theyre usually the ones making late pushes

Yeah, and if we did that we would have about 10 signees because 70% of those guys are headed elsewhere.

Stupid idea

Actually, I think we are in very good shape with Wells.

A lot of people agree with you on the first sentence.

I see what you're getting at, but role players are necessary. Look at Antonio Wardlow, not very highly recruited and he's been a pretty good special teams player (2 blocked punts in two years) and he had the pick in the bowl game.

Chris Brown was a guy that wasn't the most impressive athlete coming out of high school. Anthony Parker was not highly regarded coming out of high school. Take a chance on some guys, if they don't pan out they can spectate. If they do pan out, you have at worst a decent backup and a good special teams player or at best a solid starter.

Give a guy a chance and you might wind up suprised. In a year that is not going to involve taking away a scholarship to give to a better athlete (read a bad recruiting year) you take those chances.

I don't think he's saying to pull scholarships from our comits that we have. Hes saying that with the remaining scholarships we should only offer players on his list.If we use them all on those players great, if we don't save them for next yr.I would agree with this if this is what volinohio is saying.

I also agree with justingroves about role players and taking some chances on some kids, but I think we already have a few of those on our commitment list.

I would agree with that as well under the assumption that we have enough DT's on the roster to take care of depth for the next little bit. DT is the only position that I can think of where we would need to look at lower tier players for depth.

i am just getting sick of people saying "schollies." Sounds like you wear a bluetooth to the grocery store.
