#1 When you run a read option with a QB that can’t run the ball very well, how does this benefit the team? Just one way to do it with a little more success is have Pig line up as the QB and send Worley out wide, but it would have to be in the hurry up offense so it catches the defense of guard, also he could throw quick slants or screen passes.

#2 Also the QB accuracy is poor so maybe run or short pattern and use TE for deep slants and post to single out the smaller d backs instead of LBers.

#3 CONTROL THE CLOCK!!!!!!!!! If you plan to run hurry up offense and that plays with the other team like the Oregon game. You must change it up if they do it better than you.

One thing that could have help Tennessee get the win against Florida is made that back up QB beat you. Line up and play against the run and short passes make him throw it over top, but no they ran the ball really well and control the clock 2:1. Which I didn't watch the second half because it was to hard to watch the first half.

This is just my opinion!!!

With this "all American" offensive line we have.. Why don't we just run it up the guy and stop pulling and zone blocking. Let them big boys up front push the pile

We tried, and he did. He made some pretty impressive throws in addition to being very elusive coming out of the backfield as a runner.

We game-planned for Driscoll all week and he was out quick. Guy with little to no actual game tape replaced him. Bad situation.

"Gaw demit! Why cain't we beat em like I beat em on my eggs bawks!"

Me quoting my inner child (from an earlier post).

You can't be tickled to death if we win if you don't cry like hell when we lose.

Here's my opinion...

1. We run the zone read, not the read option. Different.

2. You realize that we are starting two true freshman at WR (Smith and North), that our starting TE (Downs) is very average, and we don't have a QB who has demonstrated any ability to make tight throws consistently?

3. I actually like your 3rd point. BUT... it looks like Butch is trying to install his system and expecting players to grow into it. Will take time. It's legit to say, "We just can't do this effectively right now so we need other options." But if you don't play your system from the get-go, you do risk severely limiting the progress of getting your system in place.

We need to have Worley throw the ball 40+times in the South Alabama game so that he can get some confidence in himself as a QB and a leader on this team. If we don't we are screwed.

This may be a good idea. But it also may lead to USA having a lead at the half because we went 3 and out every drive with a few turnovers leaving us with a tired defense and losing to start the 2nd half.

per #3: Running the system & play calling within the system are two different things.

You and I both know that until we can produce a game where our Passing attack puts up good numbers and points on the board, we will not beat a team with a good defense because they will stack the box to shut down what we laughingly call our running back tandem.

Come out in a 4 wide shotgun but stay in hurry up mode like you would normally. These WR's need to have as many chances to catch balls as they can and our QB needs to have the confidence in himself to get the ball to them. Worley is not a terrible QB skill set wise, he just doesn't have any faith in himself.

A QB can't be a true general on the field if he doesn't believe in his ability to do his own job and right now Worley doesn't.

we are the Only team in the country that starts rookies and they damned sure look like it! Every team we play that has a freshman looks like a Senior against us. I think our play calling sucks bad and way to easy to pick up on whats coming next

We probably could line up in the I with a fullback and impose the run on our opponents, if the strength of our offense is our offensive line. The zone read works best when your QB is mobile and can burn an over aggressive defense. But it would still be effective if we had receivers who could get separation, a physical TE who is a weapon, and most importantly, a QB who can make good decisions and stretch the field vertically. I'm concerned that we are playing fast when we don't have the team to do it. If we are moving the chains, getting the defense tired, and keep them from substitutions, then it is fine, but we are not moving the chains and are putting our d back on the field too much.
