ok, the obvious thing that we all want is winning, and most things we list will be solved by winning. We also have in mind who we want as a new coach :cough:Gruden:couch: some have different opinions than others, but what is something else that you want in a coach?

I am wanting a coach that we change this fan base from being so divided.

I am wanting a coach that has a pretty aggressive playcall.

I am wanting a coach that...

Ok, we want a coach that has a specialty. For instance, Gruden for offense and QBs, Jack Del Rio for defense. Patterson for Defense, Sumlin for Offense, Cut for offense and QBs, etc...

Don't want an up and coming assistant, don't care about coaching trees, don't want someone who hasn't been a head coach at NFL or major college level. No more taking chances this time.

I want a coach that will actually coach up the talent that we get.

A coach that will take some responsiblity when things go bad.

A coach that will represent the university in an honorable way.

A coach than can manage a game.

A coach that can recruit.

A coach that will have us in contention to represent the east in the SECCG.

A coach that will never lose to Vandy or Kentucky ever again.

A coach that is known for all the positive records set and not the negative ones.

There is a coach out there somewhere that can do all of these things. Question is can we find him and then hire him?

It's pretty simple really.

I want a coach who has been a winner everywhere he's been. I want a coach who hasn't been fired by another school.

And, more than anything, I want a guy who doesn't make excuses. I want a guy who isn't afraid to say that the goal is to win championships and who is ready to step up and take the blame anytime his team falls short.

Great post, UTkell. For me, a coach that stresses the fundamentals. One whose players can make one-on-one tackles in the open field because otherwise they don't start.

No gimmick offense

Believes that the running game is extremely important

Believes that defense wins championships

Is strong enough in his philosophy that he doesn't stray to far away from his convictions

Has track record or credibility on the recruiting trail

Understands the SEC and what it takes to be successful in the SEC

Respects the tradition that existed before and will exist after the tenure at the University of Tennessee
