It's been a while since I watched the Child's Play (Chucky) movies, but I do remember that no matter how they tried to kill him off at the end of the movie, he kept coming back. I can easily see a scenario where our current Chucky deal isn't dead.

The thought of having Gruden as our HC is so awesome, many of us couldn't really see it actually happening. That's why when today's denials came out, so many are moving to the next list or what now threads. I wonder if the Bammers all gave up the first, second or third time that Saban said he wasn't interested in their job?

So Hyams says the ADept has not had any contact with Gruden (the ADept won't actually make an official offer to anybody that will turn it down, btw)...and LaMonte says the whole thing is a fantasy world (whose fantasy world? Cindy's? Maybe even Gruden's?). Does that mean That high level boosters (or their representatives) haven't had serious discussions - including $$$? Hell no!

So what happens if Jimbo says no...and Stoops and Gundy won't leave (why would they?)...and we finally realize that if we want to compete (play big boy football) in the near future, we might as well pay a Rockstar at today's prices rather than 2015 prices? It is still possible we bring the $$$ he wants for his staff!

What if we hire Fedora or Smart or Golden and 3 or 4 years later it doesn't work out (or they leave - Smart to GA?) and Gruden takes the SD or Dallas job this year or next? Who's the grand slam hire then? Who's the guy that has any history here or whose wife cheered here? If you don't think that stuff matters, then why aren't we talking to Cowher or Holmgren right now?

What if we keep the faith and not panic just because we have one denial? I don't think this deal is dead...a helluva long shot maybe, but not dead.

We are talking about UT football here... A definite top ten program with a storied history. What millionaire, Super Bowl winning coach couldn't fantasize about returning to resurrect the program where he got his first shot as a GA? Make his wife and in-laws awfully happy? Feed that enormous ego with a nation of drooling fans hailing you as the second coming of the General? Take on the challenge of going head to head with the dynast building Saban?

As I have heard more than one person say, I'll know Gruden's not coming when someone else is introduced as our next head coach.

I love being a Sunshine Pumper!!!
