Just about everyone believes that the democrats need to run Biden to win. However, Sanders is wiping the floor with him. Nobody thinks Sanders can win on national stage against Trump.

Reminds me of what people were thinking about Trump in 2016.

For the record, I do not want Sanders to win the nomination.

I agree . The reason I don’t think he can win against Trump nationally, falls back to the tried and true .. “it’s the economy stupid “ which was ironically coined by the same man trying to tell the left right now it won’t work ( James Carville) . In order to sell socialism , the system has to be terribly broken first and it is sold as a replacement. If the economy was tanking now , I think the Bern might pull it off . The way it stands now though , it’s a tough sell to anyone over 25 .

I can buy your thesis. Another difference is that Trump is president, so you arent comparing two unknowns (to the oval office)

You get enough people to believe the communist lie, they'll be glad to vote for free stuff.

Both have a pretty rabid base of support among people who don’t necessarily turn out for other candidates.

You should place a huge wager on Sanders.

This is a fair take. However, I don't think Trump will underestimate Bernie like the way Hillary did with Trump.

Problem I see for the dems, no voter is excited to go vote for Biden or Bloomberg or any of those considered "moderates" (none of them are moderates but that's a different topic)

The radical base is very pumped for bernie, problem is a majority of independents won't vote for him, I would suspect a number of working class, middle class dems won't either. No Rs will cross over for him

It is reminiscent of the early stages of the Democratic race as well. Bernie did really well in Iowa and New Hampshire last time too. There just wasn't any momentum into South Carolina.

I agree there are similarities. The dims are running 27 squirrels as candidates ... much like the gop did in 2016. Trump swooped in an basically bought the job, and you have Bloomberg attempting to do the same this time around. It's like the mirror is flipped and cracked ... at least as bad as the gop slate was, it didn't include screeching washed up communists. Makes me think of that old song line "Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you, if you're young at heart."

Would you vote for him in the national if he did or would you sit out (or some other option).

What is funny is an old man that has been in politics forever has been trying to sell land in the swamp for decades and he is now getting mindless idiots to buy it and enough foreigners that are bringing over their way of life.
