It's like playing memphis. As the main university of the state you dont gain anything playing them. They are still a lower league so dont gain any national relevance. TV deals wont care because it's the same market for both.Especially those scheduling 10-15 years down the road. I get you may have two hot teams right then, but who knows what will happen in that time.
But I absolutely think UF should play UCF. I'll gladly be a Knight for a day.
How did that work out for Peyton in 96?I just don’t see the big deal. I think it would be cool and all for it but I’m also indifferent to it. UT doing a home and home with Memphis was cool (at least I think it was a home and home, correct me if I’m wrong). Would they do a home and home with MTSU? Stricklin has not shied away from scheduling better OOC games since he got there; opening game with Michigan a few years ago, home and home with Miami, Cal and Texas in the coming years. Anyone that thinks UF is scared is being delusional when you look at their upcoming OOC games. Why UCF would think they deserve a better deal than USF (who Florida has a 3 game series with, 2 home 1 away) is beyond me.

As of now, MTSU is not on the future out of conference schedules.I was referring the most recent ones but yeah I totally agree with you. It’s really a no-win for the bigger schools. And it’s easy to spout off when you make unrealistic demands and get turned down. It’s not like Florida wouldn’t play them. But as the flagship Uni in a state full of good football at every level, UF isn’t going to be bullied or taunted into agreeing to someone else’s terms. Like I said, USF got games with UF, got UF to come to Tampa and is also making a shitload of money out of the deal. Silly that UCF demands better when they are in the same damn conference as UCF.
Hey while I have you, is MTSU on UT’s future schedule? Just curious because I have a few coworkers that went there and Florida has actually played them a few times but I don’t remember seeing UT ever play them.

So far:
2021- Bowling Green, PITT, Tennessee Tech, South Alabama
2022- Ball State, AT PITT, Army, UT-Martin
2023- AT BYU, Austin Peay, University Of Texas San Antonio, UCONN
2024- Oklahoma is the only known
2025- Nothing right now
2026- AT Nebraska
2027- Nebraska
Hey thanks for the reply. Love that Nebraska series. Be a great throw back series with both of those teams possibly being “back,” right in time to face off.
Do you know why they never play MTSU? Seems like MTSU would love to make that happen if for no other reason than $$$$ and exposure.
Let's call 'em by their real name. It's like playing memphis. As the main university of the state you dont gain anything playing them. They are still a lower league so dont gain any national relevance. TV deals wont care because it's the same market for both.
And when you lose you look doubly dumb for losing to little brother.
I think it’s more 3 home and 0 away. I still can’t figure out why USF is in Tampa. Not exactly South Florida.I just don’t see the big deal.
