This Rivalry Needs a Name: The Second Longest Continuous FBS Rivalry - Wake Forest (1-4) vs NC State (3-2) (12PM ET, CW)

It’s now no longer a tie, officially becoming the 2nd longest continuous CFB rivalry played at the FBS level at 114-straight meetings (and 117 overall) with the cessation of the Bedlam Series between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State this year, following the Sooners’ move to the SEC this season...and boy are both today’s teams bad this year.

It’s a rivalry series that started in a 4-4 tie game, and once saw a game end in a full, five-minute long brawl with players brandishing nose guards, head gear, fists, and any sort of weapon found at hand…followed by the ENTIRE CROWD DESCENDING ONTO THE FIELD TO JOIN IN (and amidst all the madness, someone stole a pistol from a Wake Forest (the city, not the school) Police Officer!)

NC State was won the last two meetings between the two schools, with Wake Forest having won 4 out of the last 7.

Prior the only TD in the game came following an 88 yard fumble recovery by Wake Forest on a scary hit that left NC State’s QB Grayson McCall on the ground needing…a long amount of assistance by the training/medical staff before being carted off the field. Needless to say, he’s done for the day.

Yeah, it was a very bad hit. I’m looking for updates but I presume we won’t see anything more on it today.

The Demon Deacons end NC State’s 2-game winning streak in the rivalry, with Wake having won 5 of the last 7 meetings.

Yeah it was rough. I’m surprised it stayed in the game summary/highlight video. (For those who cares to see or for some reason actually wants to see it…the play’s at the 2:19 mark).
