Some UT football season tickets available for $300, no donation » GoVolsXtra

I've been "all in" on the Gruden talk until I read this story that just posted on govolsxtra. I don't think the university would be offering season tickets for $300 with no donation for 2013 if we had a big fish like Gruden in the boat. We may need to prepare to settle...

Whatever the price, they're not going to change it or add in the donation kicker unless we get a coach that justifies it. This means nothing right now.

Sounds to me like they are just trying to generate a little cash flow to hold them over.

I see it as a good business opportunity. Preferred coach arrives then I will buy a number of seats and scalp the living hell out of them. Make a little money while I watch my vols.

A guess on my part:

Normally, they are likely to have a fairly predictable cash flow as people buy season tickets. They are accustomed to using that money to pay bills!!

But, as you can imagine, there has to be a number of folks who are holding out buying the tickets until they know who the next coach is going to be.

You do recall that the AD reserve is pretty low?

I would not read into the tix price too much. But the idea that if we don't get JG that we will be settling for another coach is a little too dooms-day for me. There are a lot of good coaches out there to pick from. Call me silly, but perhaps the AD knows what he is doing?!

Dave Hart is better at assessing coaching talent than the average message board poster. Let the Gruden talk die people. No need to drag it on.

Well yeah, who is going to make a donation right now that we're at rock bottom and don't have a coach?

Also doubt the program will be in a great position to raise prices/solicit donations even after they hire the new guy, if the names they are going after are correct.

Based on what? His willingness to let Dooley run us into the ground before doing anything?

Ironically, I just checked my email inbox and there is a note from Chancellor Cheek about the financial future of the Football program. The donation drive is about to start. (i.e. based on your theory about a big hire meaning that we would need more money from the fan base, this type of email leads me to believe that the alumni are about to be asked to donate.)

Based on his 20+ years of experience being the AD for Alabama and Florida State. Dooley was donezo after the MSU game. Just wait until we see his hire before we break out the torches and pitchforks.

What are you talking about? Hart was never an AD at Alabama. And he never hired a head football coach at FSU. So again, where's that evidence that he knows football coaching talent so well?

Nothing is going to put it to rest in some people's eyes until the next coach is hired.

I'm convinced even after you make the new hire and that person goes through a few months of recruiting, off-season workouts, spring training and then fall training leading up to kick off of the first game, there will be people craning their necks next fall to see if Gruden will be leading the team through the "T".

What HC hires does he have in his résumé?

Don't put down babyvol. He has been reliable in his posts. Babyvol is the main reason I have been "all in" on the Gruden talk to this point.
