The Russell 3 homer game vs Vandy was the game where we started to receive national recognition I believe. I saw many opposing message boards turn eyes

I think taking the series on the road against the Gumps was a big turning point early. Bama's not a great team this year but they made the Vols earn every win. That's when I knew this team was mentally tough enough to be special.

And truthfully, Vandy should’ve gotten the strike 3 call, but didn’t. It was a bad call. Two pitches later, home run.

Big break there. But no apologies. Screw Vandy.

The stat on that line, aside from the order in the list, that jumps out is that road clip. These guys travel very very well. That’s huge in tournament time. Baseball is riddled with teams that look all-world at home but can’t get it done in unfriendly territory. This to me is the biggest leading indicator of what is possible.
