Really, really fun team to watch. I’m not sure about you guys, but watching 2 elite defenders in Mashack and Ziegler on the perimeter is so fun, not to mention Okpara inside. Lanier has a beautiful shot, and it seems like he’s capable of creating his own. This team’s deep, and I think Igor will figure it out at some point, Barnes sees him in practice every single day he’s starting for a reason. Excited for the season!

Mashack was absolutely lock down last night. I believe he drained all the want to out of Snow White until he didn't look like he enjoyed playing. ZZ was very disruptive to their offense. Lanier was playing aggressive and is able to create his shots. Actually looked OK on D as well. His style reminds me of Khwahi (sp?) Leonard somewhat.

Now, Igor. That young man appears to be loaded with a variety of skills. I could see our offense running throu him. Hasn't had big numbers so far, but appears to be just in the system.

Overall, very impressed with our poise to go into that environment and play well.

Add the fact that Estrella and Phillips are improving and the inside game should BE A FORCE.

For now, I just wish we could solve the mystery of Darlinstone Dubar.
I think he would give us a big boost off the bench. No offense to Cade, because he did play well last game, but having another guy that is a versatile scorer and defender and can shoot the 3 would be big.

I haven't had a chance to watch the Louisville game yet.. whats the deal with Igor playing so few minutes? conditioning? Are they trying to get Phillips some minutes before Dubar is back? I watched the Gwebb game and figured he didn't play as much since the smackdown was well in hand.. same with the Louisville game?

Igor got 2 quick whistles and had to sit most of the 1st half, if memory serves. The majority of his minutes came in the 2nd.

He only played 12 mins total and ended with 2 fouls. I'm assuming Cade was just playing well so they left him in since they didn't need the help? I mean they never got closer than 10 points after about halfway into the first half so there is that. Thats what it looked like happened in the first game. Cade was not balling out but he was a + on the floor.

Igor had 2 fouls before the first media TO. Sat the rest of the 1st half. Cade played well in his absence, as he did in the GW game.

I admit that I am defensive regarding critical comments of Igor. But when you say “he will figure it out,” what specifically do you think he hasn’t figured out in two games?

He just seems a bit indecisive, like the game feels fast to him. He’s not playing bad by any means, I just think he’s going to be tremendously better later in the season.

You can sort of tell that Igor is struggling to figure out where he fits in within the scheme. He's only attempted two 3s thru two games, and he didn't shoot many vs Indiana, either. Hard to tell how much of all of that is due to the adjustment process, the early fouls, determining the pecking order, etc. He is rebounding pretty well, and has been efficient scoring despite the limited minutes. It's almost like he doesn't know whether to play in the paint or play along the perimeter and he's sort of stuck trying to figure out where he's best utilized. It will get figured out and he's going to be a big part of our team's success.

I think Milicic got a little too hyped up in the offseason. Who knows, maybe he will eventually be the best or one of the best players on the team, but I don't see how you can look at his stats and assume he will waltz into the SEC and be a dominating force. More likely is that he will be a very serviceable stretch 4 type and give us something like 10 & 6 per game with maybe a couple 20+ points games imo. All of that being said, I think he has the physical tools and skillset to outperform what I'm outlining. If he can put it all together, I think he can be like a truly elite version of JJ James with consistent offense.
