This Week's Trap...

Good stuff.

The size of the Big East is starting to get a bit silly. At some point we have to start looking at something else to call it in place of conference. Coalition? Company?

I'll pay attention to college basketball talk any ole' time.

As will I. Especially one fronted by a Foreigner reference.

Just returned from the Duke-Bradley game. Total mismatch, but I agree with Hat that Duke is MUCH better with Irving in the lineup. You can tell Smith doesn't want to play point, and neither Curry nor Dawkins are good enough ballhandlers to face tough on-ball defenders. K didn't play Thornton too much what I saw, so not sure if he's an apt replacement.

And BTW, Duke either shoots threes or dunks, and very little in between.

For this season, the University of Louisville should be renamed "Hostess University", because they play cupcakes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hat, great read. I am curious to read what your thoughts are regarding the A-10 as IMO this will be one of the tougher mid-major conferences for any team to win. There is more parity than the avg year and I have some ties to the Flyers and was wondering what your thoughts were on them particularly. Lots of good basketball being played in the A-10 and IMO I see 3-5 teams from the A-10 dancing this season. What are your thoughts and perspectives on how the A-10 will play out this season?

Thanks, and I'm always appreciative of the trap and look forward to that probably more than anything on VN.

Thanks again,

Hahaha, on the home page above the list of hot threads there is a mini listing and then the far right tab on the home page has the blogs in the drop down

The A-10's tough to handicap right now. Temple and Dayton have struggled more than I expected and X has been battling injuries. St. Louis got wiped out with Mitchell and Reed being kicked out of school. I think Rhode Island is set up for a nice run in conference play. UMASS is still a year away. Richmond is an NCAA Tournament quality team. I keep expecting Duquesne to be good, but they never seem to get over the hump. Nobody else in the league is noteworthy, except maybe LaSalle and that's just because of Aaric Murray.

Last night really helped Temple and X's cause and gave them both nice resume building wins against good teams. I expected Dayton to play much better than they have shown to date. They were young last year and I kinda wrote it off to needing some maturity but felt like last year was a great learning experience. I am feeling more and more like they threw last season away instead of breaking it down and learning from it as they are too careless with the ball and don't seem to have put the necessary work in the off-season to get to where I thought they would be. Temple got a much needed win against a solid (although fairly overrated IMO) team last night. Both Xavier and Temple got wins in close battles and in getting close to conference play that can only help them. Before the season I expected Richmond, Dayton, Xavier, and Temple to all be NCAA tourney quality teams and in the A-10, we all know that any given year a team can rise up and do work. Thanks for the input Hat
