Here's a story locally from Cincinnati that I'm sure you'll hear about nationally. Reds longtime announcer and NFL announcer on Fox, Thom Brennaman just got caught on a hot mike moment talking about a city being the "*** capital of the world." His career may very well be done. He comes from an iconic broadcasting family. His Dad is part of the broadcaster's wing of the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Brennaman uses anti-gay slur on Reds broadcast

Sucks for him, I always thought he was pretty good in the booth. But theres no coming back for him not with todays cancel culture.

Cancel culture has nothing to do with it. No company in their right mind is going to keep around a guy who dropped a gay slur on live TV.
Thats my point though, back in the 90's and early 2000's he may be gone for a few years and probably resurfaced somewhere. But not in todays world.

What would be a punishment befitting the crime? Having to be the announcer for a drag show?
A 1 or 2 year suspension without pay. If he wants to earn his way back in the booth he has to do some stupid high number of hours of community service with LGBTQ groups and show he has charged
