Were you actually watching the KY-Candy game or were you on beer patrol? How is Vandy going to roll up 40+ points on our (admittedly inconsistent) defense when they could only post 22 against Kentucky? and mind you that is with 4 interceptions

Please LOOK at those stats: Kentucky Wildcats vs. Vanderbilt Commodores - Box Score - November 16, 2013 - ESPN

3rd down conversions 4-15?
Total yards KY 266 vs Vandy 313

I dont want to take this game too lightly and Franklin has done a great job but after seeing that game I am thinking what on earth are we so skeered of?

That was the first time Ive watched UK all year. Someone fill me in do they have an above average defense or is the D as bad as their record show.s?

I dont think their defense is alabama caliber by any means. But they do have mark stoops and his defenses arent horrible.

That is 1 game out of an entire season. We beat Austin Peay 45-0. Does that mean we have the best defense in college football?

Vandy has done a great job of taking advantage of their opponents turning the ball over. It is more critical that the offense does not turn the ball over and put the defense in a bad situation. I do not believe Vandy is good enough to beat us if we force them to drive the length of the field.

It's pretty bad, they do have a real good DE but that's about it. Only team they've played good has been Louisville, that's bout it that I've seen. Of course I haven't watched much at all, cause lets be honest. It's Kentucky.

Just don't change your tune if Vandy wins. Don't bring out excuses like you always do when we lose.

Remember, this is just Vandy, right?

OP outed himself by admitting to watching VU KY game. Not sure what it means but can't be good.

Note for record - I only watched recorded highlights of it, not the game itself - its sort of like taking a puff but not inhaling :good!:

We are talking about Vandy here, not Miz or Aub, who while not always powerhouses have had histories of prowess and play a solid schedule. And yes, just because we stopped USCjr doesnt mean we could stop every ranked team we play - but we are talking Vandy, not a ranked team.

And if we do lose to Vandy, I will definitely be pissed. At coaches for not getting it done but the seniors most of all - because there is no excuse. We cannot say that Vandy has more speed or better talent than we do. Their game against KY showed that pretty explicitly. As long as we dont turn over the ball - and we have been getting better at that - I dont see how on earth they outscore us. I am not saying we run the field or anything but simply that with an at home game TN +7 is a VERY reasonable expectation.

The think is South Carolina and Georgia played more pro-style formation not so many 4&5 wide sets. We matched up better because of the style of offense. Now we struggled with Mizzou and Auburn because we can't defend the spread well for 60 mins. The style of Offense that Vandy runs suits our defense and their abilities better because they like to play in the middle of the field and not on the perimeter.

candy will enter Neyland sky high and determined to win. The Vols simply must not let the commode-doors out play them and don't forget they're coached by a Jedi Master(in his own mind). 41-18 should be enough motivation .

If our defensive coordinator is not a moron, he will not allow a single play that leaves Jordan Matthews without a minimum of double coverage. If you slow him down (because you won't stop him), you shut down Vandy completely. Without Matthews, they had absolutely nothing against KY.

Well they will be coming in minus their best DE, courtesy of dufus. That should open up the edges, give Dobbs more time and just maybe those reverses might actually work again.

Run, protect the rock, no turnovers, and Palardy will keep them pinned down like Omaha Beach without air support.

Dude, just quit. The "fire Butch and all the staff" thing is getting old. These guys are 10 games into their tenure at Tennessee with a Top 5 recruiting class on the way in. They'll get their 3 years and we'll see how it looks then. But you simply haven't seen enough football from them at this point to make any kind of judgement on their careers on the Hill, and that's a fact.
