For those who haven't watched the video referenced in the article, I highly recommend the watch.

"As we got ready for that week, I felt like it was important for our football team to understand that I believed and I expected to win," said Heupel. "And we talked about three different types of teams -- those that hope, those that believe, and then those that expect."

"So I walked into the team meeting on Monday and I had a cigar in my pocket," continued Heupel. "I pulled it out when we started talking about Alabama and said listen, we've ordered these cigars, we got a couple for everybody inside of this room, we expect to have a long night smoking a cigar. Just creating an expectation for that week."

When I watched that video I got goosebumps. I have said it before but it bears repeating. I had to google Josh Heupel when he was hired. I didn’t want him. I thought we needed someone who has big time experience especially in the SEC. I honestly thought he wouldn’t fit here at all. I was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Listening to Heupel talk about football is a joy I haven’t felt about this program since probably 2007. I can see why the players love him. I mean preordering cigars and expecting to beat Saban with Bryce Young and Will Anderson? Are you kidding me? That’s moxie. That’s balls. That’s what we have been missing for so long.

It feels so good to actually have a REAL football coach. Go Big Orange!!!

Not going to sell a he is a saint theory, but I do feel he does not want to cross any moral lines he would have to try to justify to his kids. That gives me comfort we lucked up and got one that won't push the envelopes that are out there. We have had our share of those.

We have ourselves a damn football coach! He made a statement in a recent press conference too that I loved: "If we don't feel you're going to play at a championship level, you're not going to be on the field".

As brilliant as he is as an office of mine, this is the most important dynskif that Heupel has brought to the program. Not only does he expect to win, he has the players, believing that they should win, and that has even bled into the fans. I remember sitting in Neyland Stadium before McGrath‘s kick, and I actually thought he was going to make it. I believed we were going to win. Even after Bama’s’s scoop and score, I didn’t give up hope. In years past I would have given up hope after the scoop and score. I would’ve expected that kick to be missed, because that had become normal. Heupel has changed the entire mentality of this program. Winners expect to win.

This is why Tennessee will continue to win and win even bigger under CJH. We will lose players and have roster turnover. But the mentality will be the same.
