How did this person gain employment as a teacher? More importantly, why hasn't the teacher been fired?

Last Monday, a high school student in North Carolina engaged his social studies teacher in a heated debate about politics and the two leading presidential candidates. During the exchange, the teacher (an obvious Obama supporter) got very angry with the student and accused him of disrespecting the president. She even went so far as to tell the boy that he could be jailed for speaking ill of Obama.

Meh, I've heard worse. She's about par for your average Social Studies teachers. Idiotic but not necessarily thought police.

I always enjoyed getting into debates with my middle-school and high school history and government teachers. They were all clueless other than one.

a high school teacher who is incapable of articulating her position resorts to a ridiculous claim (you can go to jail for criticizing the president) to silence a student.

I hoped the principal would have issued a statement saying, "the teacher was fired - not for shouting down her student's, but for demonstrating her utter incompetence."

If only we could fire teachers for incompetence, a lot of problems would be solved. Unfortunately, our nation's most powerful union ensures that we let the weakest minds and least equipped educators set the pace for the rest of us.

That video is hilarious. It's amazing that we have people like this teaching our children.

The sad thing is, in today's America, the teacher's statement may not be inaccurate. There is legislation in place that if loosely interpreted could make the statement true. What was the bill they passed in December/early January? They could charge him as a threat and possibly get away with it. Congress and Obama keep stripping us of freedoms we used to take for granted. It's getting scary.

That's where I'm coming from as well. It's an all-around disgrace, but the teacher is clearly incompetent, and that is the biggest concern.

This pretty much sums it up.
